Used a 98 Tahoe for my 272 SR-1 for 3 years. Didn't do bad locally(only 8 miles to ramp). 50 miles to the Jersey shore wasn't to bad either. But a trip to New Hampshire changed my mind
. Besides , with a 272 , I was at or slightly over the tow capacity and insurance being the way it is , I thought better of it and moved up to a an F350 PSD. A Tahoe should do fine with your 242

We just got rid of our 03 Excursion and now have an 04 2500 HD Chevy / Duramax.
I like the truck a lot better than an suv for towing. The Excursion had a lot of body roll, and did not feel nearly as stable as either our Chevy or Ford trucks that we have used to tow with. The brakes on the Excursion sucked as well.
If I was towing something smaller it would probably not matter as much. With a heavy load I will stick with a truck.

Had a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab w/ 4.7... pulled my 27' Speedster GREAT... Getting a divorce, had to sell Dodge, got a '97 Suburban ( I have 2, one for work... one for play) ... miss the Dodge for pulling, but I do love the 'burb because of the passenger seating and security.
