Default aluminum heads

What are the pros and cons with aluminum heads in marine applications?.. I hear Edelbroc makes a great set of heads for the HP 500. Is corossion a problem? Has anyone had any experience with aluminum heads? What do they cost?

I would be interested in an answer as well. I used Brodix aluminum heads on the motor in my last cat, but it was a fresh water only boat.

I have heard some say that they would be ok in salt, and some say they would not.

need to be hardcoat anodized, salt will eat the heads quicker than the fresh water , but even fresh water they will get eattin up just takes longer. best route is closed cooling, imho...

Default Salt?

So.. How long would a set of aluminum heads in saltwater last?... If they were flushed well after each use in saltwater?

I just built a 540 with AFR heads.I chose to go with aftermarket closed system and not worry about it.I've heard 3-5 yrs with open systems.BOB
