Default $%&#@ Compression fitting..

Getting my Cafe' back together has come to a screeching halt because of four little brass fittings. The hydraulic lines from the trim pump go into a "connector"
(part 33 at http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...GIMBAL+HOUSING) that bolts to the bottom of the gimbal housing. The connectors on the ends of my lines won't screw directly into the connector - they go though a brass fitting. All four of my fittings were so corroded that they fell apart when I started reattching the lines.

So now I'm looking for these fittings. As much as I can determine they are called "double compression" fittings, and the ones I need are 3/16"F x 1/4"M. They are part #12BB on this web page (I think). http://www.couplingsco.com/page7.htm

Does anyone know where I can get four of them?

I think what you're looking for is an inverted flair to NPT fitting. Check an auto parts store that has a selection of brake line fittings.

Default What You Need...

Is Mercury Part # 22-77366...Order four of them from your local Merc Dealer. Or...Go to your local AeroQuip dealer with your hydraulic junction block & tell them what you need. The AeroQuip dealers are familiar with "power-trim lines". They should have this fitting in brass from either AeroQuip, Parker, Weatherhead, or Brasscraft. I don't think this would be called a compression fitting. This would be called a male inverted flare to female inverted flare "adapter"... Hope this helps. Ed

Steve, I don't understand what has corroded. Do you mean the brass fitting that connects the hose to the connector block?

The connector block is originally made with either a #3 or #4 inverted flare female thread depending on the drive and boat age. Am I correct that you have the braided style lines that were made up by Cigarette? If so they are #3, and I am guessing that you have Bravo's which use a #4 connector block. If all this is true you need a #3 female to #4 male inverted flare adapter, and you will find it at your local hydraulic supply house or possibly a well stocked auto parts store. We have them but I know we pay way to much for them. I think they are made by Weatherhead or Parker. Forget all of what I said and listen to Gary & Ed if someone has drilled and tapped your connector blocks.

Napa won't have these little fittings. They are something special. Be forewarned. There are two different sizes.

Napa didn't have them, and neither did Lowes, Home Depot, an industrial supply house, a plumbing supply house, an HVAC supply house, or the Mercruiser dealer where I buy parts (In fact, he told me I had the wrong lines).

Did you ever locate this fitting? I have the same male/female connector between my pump and braided trim hose and it has a slight leak.

Wondering where I can get this fitting from?
