I just bought this boat last fall. 29 foot Fountain / twin 502s. Everything seemed pretty sound. Just some minor things untill today I think. I was looking to drain and refill the lower units and cannot find the drain plug. I have a Seloc manuel that shows where it's supposed to be but not there. I see some sand scratches in the area where I think it's supposed to be on both drives but no sign of any plug. I know anything is possible but now I wonder if some idiot did some repair work right over the plugs. I hope I'm the idiot not looking in the correct place but I sure dont see it. The vent plug is in plane sight.

You did pull the prop and look in there by the shaft right?

No. My last boat was a jet boat. This is all new to me. I did shine a light in by the prop hub but did not see anything but I thought the drain was on the front of the lowere unit just above the skeg. Is the plug behind the prop not visible untill prop is removed?

Yea, on many of the Bravos, the drain plug is in front of the prop. You have to take the prop off to see it.

You have to fill the drives from the drain behind the prop with a gear lube pump, and not at the top vent screw or the drive reservoir. Use Mercs High Performance gear lube, not the Merc Premium gear lube.

As US1Fountain said you must fill the unit from the bottom plug which should be behind your prop. This is to prevent air pockets from forming in your unit when filling with oil.
Did you locate the plug?

I didnt have a socket to remove the prop at home last night. It's raining cats and dogs here in Kansas City right now so dont know if I'll get to do it tonight. I do understand the fill procedure. Just couldnt find the drain. like I said before, I cant imagine anyone would make repairs over the drain plug but my manuel says nothing about it being behind the prop. I'm a mechanic for a GM dealership and still after all these years they manage to leave out important info in service manuels. Of course it's all on the webb now.

Congrats on your new fountain 29 fever. Most
likely your Bravos are the newer style and like
everyone else has said, the drain plug is below
the prop shaft behind the prop. I use Royal Purple
synthetic. Never had a problem since using it
the past 4 years. I change it every 25hrs or when
i change my engine oil (Royal Purple also).

I also have a 1991 29 Fever with twin 454's that
are slightly masaged. I run 80-81 GPS with 26"
Hydromotives. Is yours a step or non step? Good

1993. Not a step hull. Engines are stock 502 MPI.
Only ridden in it once at that was for the test ride prior to purchase. We brought it home last fall just to put it in storage. We have had a jet boat for the last 12 years, still do for now untill I sell it. This is a big step for my wife and I . Just a tad nervous about taking it out but I know we will do fine. Harder to find a place to park thou.
