Default Repairing Gel coat????????????????????

I had a mishap over the weekend and took off about a 4”x 4” section of gel coat on the deck, fiber glass is showing and it looks fine, I just ordered the gel coat to match boat and my question is do I put anything down between the fiber glass and the gel coat? I have gel coated before with great results but never something this big? Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

No need for primer. Just make sure you sand it.

Oh and also waxing agent or a large area will not cure.

They make a primer called Coverall that goes under the gel coat if you want to seal everything up well. I'll get the number for you and post it here.

Ya use like a 180 in the middle and a 320 or so out on the sides. Then when you have finished wet sand with 320 then 600 then 1000 then buff and enjoy.
