Default X dim on 24'

I am installing a bravo drive on my 24 and setting the X dimension at 18.5" so that I can use the existing exhaust holes and to gain a little performance over the TRS. Will I have sufficient water pressure with a standard waterpickup drive? Chris

Ironman,
With the X at 18.5, how far below the bottom will the prop shaft be?
I think my 1989 24 Pantera and 1997 Super are about 3-1/2".

If you buy a drive with Dual or Low water pick up, you should be fine.
I think Dual is standard these days; my 2004 Bravo drive has it.
I have heard of people blocking of some of the holes in the upper part of the side pickups so that there is more draw from the nose cone pickups.

It will be at 4" and I do not have the dual pickup drive. I may just keep the through hull waterpickup for the engine and run a drive cooler from the drive water pickup if it will be an issue with waterflow. chris

Ironman, I am looking for a TRS gimbal ring part number 77011A-7. Did you remove this part? If so, is it for sale?

Thanks
Shawn

Hi Chris,

We mount the Bravo 1 drives at 17'. At 17' you can run a three blade Mirage prop and get up on plane well. Any higher and you get slip with a 3 blade. If you are going to run strictly 4 blade props then you can bump the drive up to 17 1/2 or even 18' but prepare to possibly try a spacer at 18'.

Remember it is all about control and handling.

Regards,

JO

Thanks Jo I will try to get it closer to 18" if I go lower I will have to fill and redrill the exhaust holes.

IRONMAN, I would stay with the same holes even if the drive is too high, you can work your way down from there, alot cheaper to go down then up.
