Well it looks like my new garage project has run out of money already!
Between another van for the wife, new trans for the truck and a couple months of slow sales...well you know...

So, for the first year, I'm debating whether to TARP my boat for the winter or SHRINKWRAP it. It's always been garage kept or boatel kept. But, since we've moved, I don't have either. Obviously the tarp is way cheaper, but will it hold up?

I've heard differing opinions on the shrinkwrap idea. So, I figured I'd check with my friends on OSO to see what ya'll would/will do for the winter.

depends if you want to get in it during the winter. if you shrink wrap it its tough to get into unless you have them make a entry way for ya. before i had my cover made for my cafe racer, i had used the blue tarps but in silver. i doubled them up and they worked fine. just make sure they are tight so they dont bang in the wind on the paint job. you should be fine with the tarps, plus it will save you some coin...

I have done both, but the shrink rap by far was the best. The first year with a tarp it did a number on the sides and I was always worried about the snow load. With shrink rap, if it's done well you won't have any problems. They can also install a door for you to get in and out. I have seen alot of crushed windshields from the snow with tarps if you don't always clean them off.

I don't care what you do with a tarp. Once the force of wind gets under it. It's gonna rip it apart. Shrink wrap is best. My guy for 50 Bucks more adds a zip up door way that you can go in and out of all year long ask about it .

I've never seen shrink wrap with a zipper door... maybe I should do some for cars.....

He adds a zip up door right where you have your walk way on all cabin cruisers. Yea after you spend triple $$$ digits for a boat $50 isn't gonna kill ya

I wrap boats for $8-10 a foot and put a door in for free

I'd have you do mine but my Marina is a pain in the AZZ with other people coming on site. It's crazy there. but I have to admit no scum balls and no old crappy boats.

Wrap it. Build a center support frame and vent it. She will be dry and fresh come spring time.
