Unhappy November 22, 1963, Where were You ?

On November 22, 1963, when he was hardly past his first thousand days in office, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by an assassin's bullets as his motorcade wound through Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was the youngest man elected President; he was the youngest to die.

Of Irish descent, he was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, on May 29, 1917. Graduating from Harvard in 1940, he entered the Navy. In 1943, when his PT boat was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer, Kennedy, despite grave injuries, led the survivors through perilous waters to safety

No one in my age bracket has ever forgotten. Time sort of came to a stop for a few days.

I was in my third grade class. I remember distinctly the principal coming in and telling the teacher.

I was 5 years old and Mom was ironing clothes with the tv on when they broke in with the news about JFK.

My mom was 3 months old.

I have done a bit of reading on Kennedy lately. Really wonder where we would be as a nation if he was still alive. Viet Nam was possibly preventable.

Or it might have turned into WW3. I was in Vietnam. Not sure it was preventable given the times and politics of that era. I don't believe it really mattered who was president. Communism seems pretty tame compared to the terrorism these days. Now it is my son's turn and he is currently active. Now I know how my old man felt the day I got on the plane!
