Default nova prop advice needed

Hi all, this is my first post, although I have been lurking for info for some time. I have a 1988 26 foot nova spyder with a single engine and bravo drive. When I purchased the boat it had a 330 hp 454. It would go about 52 on gps with a revolution 4 21 pitch prop at 4500 rpm. I have just put a 540 that dynoed at 625 hp@5500 rpm, torque was over 600 from 2800- 5400 rpm into the boat and was wondering if anyone has expierience with this sort of power in a nova II and what type and blade # prop I should try. Any advice would be helpful. thanks, Rick.

Welcome to the board.

you'll probably be in the 26p range. Best thing to do is try to borrow and test a few before you buy.

each hull reacts different to different props. Generally a 4 blade will give you better handling and better cruise speed, but shave a couple mph off the top end.

a bravo 4 blade will give you bow lift, where a hydromotive 4 blade will give you stern lift.....depends what your boat likes.

if you know people in your area that will let you borrow thiers for the day, it makes it alot easier. where you from?

hi-perf 2000's right. It would be nice to try a 25" Mirage Plus and find you need the 27" to get the rpms down. Good Luck.

You need to check with 26Scarab on the board. He has a 26 Scarab with a 540. His knowledge may be useful.

I think we should define your goals. What is it you want to improve?

Keep in mind that your drive is a little deeper in the water and 3B props may work better for your application, but again it is important to define your goals!
