Top cylinder lubrication???

Years ago (1970), I remember adding Mystery Oil to gas to provide lubrication for cylinders and valves. In the marine environment, it seems like it would be a good idea. It could help reduce moisture and help during "dry" starts. Would appreciate your thoughts.....

i always thought it to thin to want to run much of it in hipo eng. i've only run it in old beaters to free up rings etc. i would also put a can it the gas tank when it was almost empty to clean out carb, it even smells like a solvent moreso than engine oil. i would think a good synthetic like redline or mobil one woulod be the way to go once engine is broken in. just my .02 ratman

Smells more like Pepto Bismol to me.
And it is a detergent/solvent with fair lube film properties and excellent corrosion protection properties. Would be a good addition to a fuel injected motor that sits for long periods.
