We have an 03 we are selling ,to get an 05 , that just developed a terrible stink of exhaust in the cab . I can't find it .....
Ford says it is a common problem ..... they are fixing it Monday .
I had a customers truck a couple weeks ago that had a SEVERE exhaust manifold leak ! It sounded like a giant air compressor with a leak ! I couldn't see it ,I could here it and feel air blowing all the place under the hood , so I don;t know if it was a cracked manifold or just the gasket .
HAs anyone else seen this problem . Just wondering how common it is . And some people may not realize they have a problem , my cusomers didn't ! They thought it was normal to smell diesel soot in the cab ........

The flex "Y" pipe into the turbo sometimes cracks and lets the stink out. However, just before it turned cooler here, I was noticing a stronger "funky" diesel smell when I came to a stop with the A/C on (especially after a hard run). It wasn't consistant but was becoming more frequent. Seems to be somewhat of a mystery.

Boot,
As you well know you and I are in similar lines of work.
We move a lot of those through our shop. I have not heard of this yet from any of my customers. This would include my own. Mine is an 03. You know, the year that everyone says don't buy. Of all the ones I have built up for customers mine is the fastest and least problematic.

I had my down pipe replaced under warranty. I could not sit in my cab for very long before I was choking on fumes. 2004 F-350 CC Dually

Joe, although most of exhaust leaks are covered by warranty, we have seen a half dozen or so out of warranty that have developed leaks. Most were at the flange. 2 had broken flex pipes.
