Hello all, I was wondering what the cost is for blueprinting a 29 foot scarab hull. Also, what should I expect to gain in mph. Is it worth the time and expense? What is involved in the process and would it be a good time to have some dings and gel cracks repaired? Just curious, because I dont expect to pick up much speed; but having a straight hull would make my future mods more effective. Any info would be appreciated.

Blue printing can have as much as a 10 mph gain on some hulls. Not cheap, and should b done if bows, hook's , or un-even surfaces are noticeable and high speeds are expected.

alot of sanding , laser measuring?

That was part of the reason I asked about blueprinting in the first place; to see if it was worth the time and trouble to have someone do all that to my hull. I am still wondering about the cost. Also, is there anyone in Texas or near Houston that can perform the work.

29 footer should be in the range of 3- $5,000. Depending on how bad the hull is. Could be as high as 10k

Hey Russ, Thanks I appreciate the info. I'll give him a call. From the looks of the price, I might be better off going with my other option...Whippled 502. At least I can do the mechanical work myself. Fiberglass work looks scary!

Plus, you need to turn the boat upset down, to do it right.

Make sure the guy is experienced with blueprinting. Talk with customers of his to verify the results of his work.
There are many different ways to blueprint a hull.
What attitude does your hull have now ? Are you satisfied with it ? Is it to flighty, or is the bow not getting up enough.
These are all things to take into consideration when having your bottom blueprinted. Whether your having a plain straightening job, or a rocker put in to give you more bow lift. Having the wrong blueprinting done will give you no increase in speed. Most hulls are safe with a straightening job.
