Had friend just get one like this this month. I think he said top speed was 93-97mph. Also have another friend with one without ext. boxes & put shorties on this last year. Was a little slower & harder to get on plane & gained about 2-3 MPH. He is still trying props.

Don't forget , Eliminator puts the outdrives on with different Xs on the 28 Daytona. One with a high X, shortie drives and no boxes, will be tough to get on plane in rough water. Some of them like the stern lift props and some don't. It's a lot of trial and error.

Mid 90s sound about right.

Good luck.

I own a 1999 28 daytona tall deck with twin 500hp's The best top speed with bravo
30p 4 blades brand new props is 95 on GPS turning 5150 rpms. My boat has 300 hours on it and was meticulously maintained since new. I had the valve springs, roller rockers, keepers, roller lifters ect all replaced this past season for routine maintenance and still runs like new and still runs 95 mph. So if you you want to call me to discuss the boat I would be happy to talk to you. I love the boat but with twin 496HO's I would bet you might see on a good day 90 mph and will probably run in the high 80's all the time. The 28 tall deck has a heavy nose and rides great but is no way going to run 100 mph with 496HO's and you would need to spend allot of time tweaking the boat to get 100 with 500hp's and might never get there. Close but maybe 97-99. If you want to talk PM me

I've got the 496 ho's and ran 93 with bravo 30's... I'd like to see what the 500's would do in my boat?

I too have a tall deck 28 with 496. Top speed to date is a gps 92 with two people and half tanks. I am running the 1.36 and 30p bravos. I was told by a few people if I step to the 32p bravos I might make it over the triple digit, but I am thinking maybe higher 90's...... Actually they guy that hit 103 told me he is running the 32's and 1.36. I just question if this is a gps speed or from something else. I was also worried about planning with 32's and a full load.

Insurance is under 3000 a year for me, no lay-up, not sure if that is good or not, but sounds reasonable, especially since I am under 30.
