IMHO the Crane is the way to go. I like the retard feature. Before I went blower motor I used 89 octane. When I could not find 89 I just flipped a switch and it knocked out 2 degrees of advance. I did not notice any gains but my carb was slightly rich, the Crane cleaned up the plugs and improved the idle a good bit.

I haved used the Jacobs with great success!! On my first Procharged boat it cleaned up the plugs which used to foul with long idle times AND it added 500 rpm on the top.
I would just keep trying Ebay for awhile.... I found two complete ones there last summer.
