See the picture ..... The 90's screw into the thru-hull fittings, then the steering hoses connect to the 90's. The problem is that I don't like the way they are angled. I have them as tight as they will go. How do you get NPT fittings to line up where you want them? Ideally I want both fittings to be facing downward. Can I loosen then to where I want them and use some type of sealant?

Mine have a swivel fittings (Imco) so you can clock them where you want prior to tightening. Can you rotate the fittings in the transom ?Then retighten?

You are a picky guy Dave.
NPT is a tapered thread, so they do need to be tight. Don't count on sealants, those lines will be under high pressure.
Jetmech has the only solution I can think of.

Ya, I know I am anal about some things. Since I had my motor out, I rewired and rerouted stuff that did not look as good as it could. Nothing like a clean, neatly rigged engine compartment.

I think you will have to change the thread type from NPT to like a 37 deg flare, or even better an o-ring and a straight thread. Check out a parker hydraulic catalog (http://www.parker.com/Products/EPD/). We have a couple local "Goodyear rubber" industrial places around here that stock almost everything you would need. I would not loosen the tapered threads and try to reseal with a sealant...asking for troubles.
