DEWALT makes one that is the same as the Snap On unit. Variable speed at the trigger and on a speed wheel. That is very important when buffing.
The type of pad that you use has to match the compound you are using also and that has to work with the type of paint you have on your boat. Not the hardest thing to do in the word but you do want to be carefull not to create to much heat or take off to much paint as well.

Buy a Makita I have one that has lasted way longer than the arms holding it.
In the over 200 dollar range. I had a hard time finding true Buffers when I bought this one 50 boats ago.

Just got mine 2 days ago.porta cable model 7424 with vaiable speed and random orbit polisher.$140 online.www.woodworker.com have to wait 4 more weeks to use it.just had the paint and clear redone.
