I had a 6 post lift for my last boat, but sold it to the marina where it was installed. I am now looking for a new lift and am trying to decide if I should go with a 6 post lift or an elevator lift. I am putting it behind my house where I have a 50 foot bulkhead in a protected lagoon. If your lifting a 37 AT, I would use a 16000# 4 post High tide. I did my homework on lifts for 2 years before I bought them, I now have 3 High tides 20k, 16k,& 3500# and they are great lifts.

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to a post syle lift verses an elevator style lift??

If we are both thinking the same thing an elevator type lift mounts only on one side most of the time to a concrete seawall and raises the boat up and to wards the seawall at about a 30deg. angle. For me that wouldn't work because of water depth at my bulkhead my dock is over 200 feet long and the water is only 6 feet deep where my boat is.

If that is not what you are talking about then please explain and I will give you my opinion on it.

We are talking about the same thing. I am installing it on pilings parallel to my bulkhead.

I didn't go with them because I wanted lifts that I could change from boat to boat easier,if I ever get a boat like a PC with a wider beam or when IO sell it helps to have more adaptable lifts. I wanted to be able to have my dock go around 3 sides so cleaning is easier. Plus they don't build one that will lift my 50 Nortech, you want to space out the cross beams a little for a boat that big.
