Default Paint schemes/recommendations

We're currently in the process of brokering a build slot.

Most of the major muscle movements of the design are finished, but I've yet to pick out a paint scheme/setup.

I'm not a big fan of flashy color schemes or wild/bright stuff that I've seen on offshores. That's just not my style.

My first question is.....why does everyone go with such bright colors, is it just a functionality thing (heat and reflection?) What are the drawbacks to going to darker, more conservative colors? There must be some reason why every boat I've seen is either predominantly white, orange or yellow. Particularly the OL's.

The color's I find appealing are deep red, black, blue, chrome/silver and white.

I'd like to do a deep/dark red with black lowlights/streaks or smokes through it (and in conjunction with the name of the boat, which my fiance decided upon "DiabloFemina" ). Maybe some chrome or whit thrown in as highlights.

Input requested and welcomed.

Thanks.

Ryan

The darker colors would look great. However, darker colors are hotter to walk/sit on and also harder to keep clean. That is probably why you dont see as many.

Paul is telling me that the soonest I can get it would be around June-July for an August completion. I haven't talked with him in a few, I'll have to confirm.

Yeah, I just finished talking with Paul and deep red is not going to be practical

So it looks like we'll go with white and red/black highlights. I dunno, I've got to think about it. We'll be boating in hot weather most of the year, so it doesn't make sense to go with a darker color (heat sink). Although it'd look much better (IMHO). Who knows, maybe I'll go with silver/blue.

I'm just not into bright, "loud" colors. The boat is gonna be loud enough without the colors.

I'll spill the beans once it's brokered. Don't want to jinx myself.
