FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
What is currently the world's fastest pleasure boat Skater?? Is it the "Jett" twin turbo boat from New Jersey?? Any pics or more info. on this boat? What is its top speed?
I know it used to be the "Nauti-Marine" 36' that is also now here in NJ. This boat (ex-NM) is presently for sale in the OSO classifieds with lesser power than it once had in its hayday...still awesome however! Does anyone know what issue of Powerboat magazine this boat was featured in? (Circa 1998?) I used to have it and would like to get another copy of the magazine...or the Skater article at the very least. Please let me know. THANKS for the help. |
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
If you are talking about the Jet Set boat from NJ it has twin GE T58 turbine power. I believe speed is well over 190mph. And it runs every weekend!

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
the fastest official pleasure boat is still dave's old 36, there may be faster boats but they haven't run an official kilo to prove it....
dave went 180.233 one way and 176.162 average.... |
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
JET SET is the fastest i know of. Kilo or not has been radar'd in xs of 190 on numerous occasions and is a daily use boat.
|
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
then extreme xhibit is up there, he has a couple of 190+ gps runs now...
i was just saying officially timed records, daves 36 is still the fastest... you get into radar and gps runs and you open up a whole can of worms... |

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
I believe it is the "Jet Set" boat I am thinking about...especially if it is based in/around Bricktown, NJ on the Metedeconk River. IS it? Where can I find more pics and other info. on this boat? How long is it? Any weblinks? Is this the same boat that is usually at the New York City Poker Runs?
Does anyone know what issue of Powerboat the "NAUTI-MARINE" Skater 36 is featured in? (The late '90s or early 2000's?) |

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
I just found a pic of it (old paint I guess...red, white and blue) on the www.njppc.com website under the members gallery. States there that it is a 40 footer. I knew I saw it someplace before!

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
I'll see if I can find out the issue your looking for. I have the current owner of the x- nauti marine boat's other cat in my shop now for work. He's also a personal friend and, i think, a member of OSO. I'm surprised he hasn't responded. I'll talk to him tomorrow and find out o have him post the info.
And yes it is in NJ not far from Jetset. |

Jet set is a beauty, she comes out of Toms river ( the town ). I believe a mid 90's 40' skater, reported speed at 200 plus. Surface drives, an outboard in the rear box to jocky around the docks.

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
AWESOME!!!!
Hopefully I will get to see it in person (in action preferably) someday soon...next year maybe. |
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
Hey DRR, I spoke to the owner of nauti marine boat he doesn't know what mag it was in. He said it was featured in one of the Poker Run America but not sure which one.
Sorry I couldn't be more help |

Catagory5,
That's OK...THANKS for trying. I appreciate your help!! Maybe someone will find and post that info. later. The thing that burns me is that I used to have the issue...until someone else in the house s**tcanned it! (Someone of the female persuasion...does this happen to anyone else?) Oh well... If anyone has more pics of either boat...keep 'em coming...gotta love 'em!! AWESOME Machines!! |

i find the 6 inches hard to believe.. that would mean with the fins shown in this pic, that only 2 or 3 inches of the prop is in the water...

Honestly, the boat has to have a displacement draft of at least 6" or GREATER, and to deliberately attempt to run in water that shallow is insane. Now you can run in the mud, steer, throttle and drive. You just cannot stop. |

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
Hey thats my old man in the background. SeanH, were you the one taking that pic?

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
I was in the NY poker run only once, and Jet Set broke before it started. By no means am I taking anything away from that boat, but everybody breaks sometimes, even Jet Set
|
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
Up this way, Alex Bay, Ny we've got MYWay, a race/pleasure turbine powered 46. Last I heard over 190 w/ more to go and without using the water injection..
i posted some onboards here under action vids: http://www.188thstreet.com/ |
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
Extreme Xhibit is not a 190 mph boat. The fastest 32 skater in the world, King Sting, runs 173mph. I helped build the motors at performance marine. King Sting went by Xtreme Xhibit 4 different times until the Nor-tech blew a motor.

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
Whatever happened to KingSting? Wasnt it for sale?
Thats faster than Id ever want to go in a 32... I was over 170 in the new MyWay and you felt it at that speed in that big 46.. in a 32.... |
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
did they ever add a windscreen to king sting? i bet that thing is no fun over 150 without wind protection....
|
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
No and it is on Lake George. He mostly uses it as a lake boat. He has 8 mufflers on it so it passes.

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
What is in the yellow casing off the stern of Jet Set in post 23? A 'little' motor used to navigate docks and such would make sense, but it doesn't look like a motor to me. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks, Dan |

Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
Sean is correct , it is a 60hp yahama ob with a jet pump. The turbines do not shift, start and go.

6 inches is a bit of an exageration but not by much. I live less than 5 miles from where this pic is taken. Where Superbabi's boat is is at the edge of the chanel which is about 7-9ft max. If you jumped off the front of his boat you could walk (literally) to the far end of the bridge (Toms River Bridge)with only two small channels in between. Barneget Bay is very shallow but the bottom is very soft for the most part. We used to make our gas money here as kids pulling boats out of these shallows with our boston whalers. Jet Set also chooses to run there because nobody else does. :chick:
|
Re: FASTEST Pleasure Skater??
Good point, Tantrum. My shore house is located in Toms River on the other side of the bridge so I too am quite familiar with the waters. There have been many times when I was out toolin' around on my SeaDoo (off shore directly across from Superbabi in pic above to the island house) and JetSet has blasted past me at 100++ mph in 12" to 18" of water. Cool boat and even more impressive when you see it in action!!
Happy New Year Everyone!! Dan |
