What's the story on this one?
1989 Skater / Douglas Marine Offshore Racing, 32' A classic Skater currently set up for racing but could be retro-fitted for pleasure. Ran 130's with 850 engines.
Being sold without engines as they were recently sold.
Comes with triple axle aluminum trailer.
Equipped with fresh #5 drives built with all the correct HD 1.61 gears/etc.
Is a 1.61 gear ratio an overdrive or underdrive?
This boat was probably ran really hard and I know that, but what do you guys think it is worth?
I'm looking for a diesel project and this may be the one if I am ready in a few months.

Depending..... Upon the diesel you want to use, the 32A does not have sufficent bottom surface area to support the displacement of a heavy diesel. 1500 lbs ea. so to speak.
Now, a duramax 850 lb engine would be fine, but not a Yanmar.
The 32' B has a larger sponson and can carry the weight better than the 32' A. For a diesel look for a larger boat like the 36' Skater or small engines.

Not sure why you say that, there is only 210 lbs diff between a merc 525, and a yanmar 480hp.
Add a multispeed tranny to use all the torque.

cummins 5.9 with twin turbos....cnc ported heads
750hp
2200-2500 ftlsb torque
but redlines at less than 3k rpm
I'm looking into the heads and waterjacked exhaust... may have to build and dyno the motor then decide on a boat

Big difference and the Yanmar is Longer which would not fit in the 32'A as a BBC barely fits.
