28 Skater

Tell me what you guys know about this 28 and how they run with the 2.5's. Are the 2.5's ok or should you go with 300's??

Thanks

2.5's are nice engines but require a re-ring at 140-150hrs depending on how they are ran. 300's require less maintence and are heavier than the 2.5's. If the engines have low hours and prove to be in good shape I would keep the 2.5's.

I love my 28 skater .The 28 rides great! The 2.5`s sound great my first set lasted me 150hrs before they blew ,my second set lasted 26hrs,bad gas and they blew. Now I am in the final stages of re- rigging should have my 300xs in the next few weeks.I hope now I will finally have reliable power!
Now all I have to worry about is getting Good Gas!
That 28 looks like a nice boat! I would sell the 2.5`s and buy some 300xs with warranty!!!

I'll be going out with him to pick it up. He also has his 42 Fountain for sale if you Skater guys know anyone looking for one. He is new to cats so do you guys have any tips on running these 28?? We may have something to run with his new toy by the end of the season as well.:D:D Skater or Motion.:D

I met the owners of that boat 2 weeks ago at the Crabshell in Stamford. He said that there were about 100 hrs on the motors. I have heard they need rebuilds around 200 hours. We left the docks right behind them and the 2-stroke smoke they emitted was incredible when they popped the throttles. At the end of the harbor, they took off side by side with my buddy's 32 skater. They raced across to LI(32 won), but my buddy said that 28 ran great. Here is a pic of teh 28 next to the 32 at the docks.

Of course it was! My bud was worried he was going to lose because he had the wrong lower units on his boat, which severely limit top speed, but he said he still got 'em. Tell your friend the new owner, that once he gets used to it, we can set up a re-match!

Hows your buddy liking the ride of the 32B in the sound. Where does he keep the boat?? A rematch would be in order.:D The old owners of the boat asked me what the 32 was running for power and speed. They seemed surprised when I told them.
