Default 28' skater true speeds

Just wondering what the true speeds that people are seeing with their 28' skaters? I see on the skater website these boats with the 2.5 or 300 optimax motors are running anywhere from 112MPH to 118MPH...just wondering if you guys can post the speeds your boats are running,a nd with what motors...

thanks,

joE

Hello, my 28 with the new 300 XS optimax has seen a best top speed of 110 mph, light on fuel, with 35 X 15 3 blade labbed cleavers, height above sponsons is 1.5 inches. I also wonder what others are getting with similar set ups.

A freind of mine, OSO screen name 'JIMKID Motorsports', has a 2004 28 with T/300X, running 14.5 x 34 3 blade labbed cleavers. He reports his top speed at 115mph.

Link for his boat is http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o16254-en.html

My 2007 30 Skater with T/300 XS is slower than the 28. The 30 is much bigger and the 300XS do not make as much as the 300X.

My 30 can be seen at www.dkorinc.homestead.com

The 28 can be a very fast boat with the perfect setup and now weight. The 2.5 Skaters light on fuel and gear run in the mid to high teens. The 300 promax 28s run around 110, some are faster. The 300x 28's will run close to 120, again some have run 123-125. Skaterjim ran 127 with 300x motors. Dont know about 300xs, they are pretty new. I would say they are comparable to the older 300 promax setups. It is an extremely fun boat to drive and own.

28 Skater 300 promax's runs 114. Not mine my sons, but it depends alot on the set up. 2 boats running same motors, may run different speeds. We bought boat from owner in Fla. It ran 103 when we bought it. My son made a few adjustments with raising motors, working with props picked up 9 mph with same stock motors. Skater Jim on OSO has a 28 running 127 mph, may be faster by now. JimKidd has a very nice boat for sale, plus the boat is set up perfect. They are great boats, alot of fun.

You forgot to tell everyone that SkaterJim has no interior or rugs in it it's just a raceboat. My 28 skater runs 118.7 and it's a full pleasure boat.

Its pretty hard to classify a 28 Skater as a full pleasure boat. They are pretty bare bones to begin with. Jim's boat has been very fast with nothing in it, but dont you think all of the other claims are light on fuel, back seat out, etc? I bet 118.7 is your best run. How much fuel were you running?
