Gettin Throttled UP !!!!!

I ordered a set of Throttle Up 5 blade CNC props for my 32' with 300 X's. I am very excited about trying them out. From what I have heard from some reliable folk that the performance gains I may enjoy should be pretty damn good.

I just wanted to say that Julie from Throttle Up is extremely knowledgable and has been nothing but a pleasure dealing with up till this point. Very cool people !!

Hopefully within a week or so I'll be able to report back to you all some good news !!!

I also just ordered a set from Matt and Julie for my 32B with 300XS's.. I tested a set of Herings yesterday morning but with 20degrees of rake they just carried the bow way too much so I called Matt gave him the specs and he's making me a set similar but with less rake..I'll let you know..

P.S. The difference from 4 to 5 blades is fantastic, the 5 Blades feel like a sewing machine they are so smooth

Xchoke03 05-13-2008 11:44 AM

TZ what are you currently using for wheels (before you tried the herrings)?? What sppeeds do you see with the XS's ??

24skaterVA 05-13-2008 02:13 PM

Do you have a # for those guys, I've been thinking about a set of 4-blades & would like to talk to someone about them.

Xchoke03 05-13-2008 03:05 PM

The # is 727-531-2255.

tzrider 05-13-2008 03:52 PM

I've been running 15x31 4 blades (32's cut to 31) and have had the best results. I've seen a best of 94.8mph with these props and the 300XS's. I know there is more speed in it once I play with engine heights. I'm having the new props made with a 15.25 diameter which should allow me to come up another 1\8 inch.

Nice, it will be cool to document the type of gains we will see with our new CNC props. I look forward to sharing info together.

Keep in touch !!

Patrick,

As you know, I am thinking about doing the same thing.

Do you have good baseline data for the current props?
Would you post the current data?
Once you have a chance to run the new props, would you post the new data?

Frank F.

Yes they will work with you to get the right prop. No they are not hydromotive , they are made in house by throttle up.

They look great ! did they speak to you at all about changing engine heights? typically , a 5 blade will give more lift and sometimes you need to raise the engine heights to compensate (to put less blade in the water) . Depends on rake . Do you know what rake these are? what are you runing for water pressure rt now ?

activatorf1 05-20-2008 09:53 AM

Did they offer you an exchange program ?? Hydromotive will keep sending you props until you find something that works . I think these 5 blade are only going to offer outstanding acceleration but slower at WOT

These 5 blades are state of the art . Why are you offering an opinion on something you know nothing about ? The same goes for your previous statement about labbing props. Once again inaccurate.:Whatever:

stainless 05-20-2008 10:26 PM

see posts 228 on under" my new 2007 30 skater" for more real world info from people who have just won world championships using these props

activatorf1 05-21-2008 12:03 AM

I have about 10 props I tried on my race boat , Bravo one , bravo one B-blade labbed , Hydromotive quad 4 , quad 4 labbed , quad 4-x , 5 blade Hydromotive . Sorry to ruffle your feathers Cupcake !! Just posting my results that I have lived

stainless 05-21-2008 06:16 AM

Blah Blah Blah... did you read the posts?..... I've never seen anyone say un labbed props are better than labbed ones you sound like the Geico Caveman! Did you read the part about how the guy that won both the dubai class 3 championship and the guy who won the Australian championship both use these props?have you ever tried these props?I would guess no . The props you listed are not even in the same league with these. So if you have never tried them, dont even know who makes them, your giving an opinion on something you know nothing about. .......Case closed !

activatorf1 05-21-2008 06:59 AM

Oh , they must be the all the time best if he won !! All I'm saying some MFG of props have tighter tolerencesthan others ,and I have had box stock props out perform other MFG labbed props !!! I hope he does see a big increase !!! Sorry to get your Panties in a Bunch !!

Yes some props do have tighter tolerance than others, and if you knew about cnc props , you would know that they have the highest tolerances of all. And it's not 1 guy that won it's 2 separate boats that won two separate championships on the highest level of competition anywhere for this class of boat! (outboard cat) These props are brand new and have just recently been made available to the public! Wouldn't want to confuse you with the facts.:evilb:

activatorf1 05-21-2008 08:10 AM

Thank you for clearing that up Sunshine !!! How much are they ???? From my exp with more blades , it only can help you when you have high slip # . I have found more blades = more drag if your slip # is low

stainless 05-21-2008 08:40 AM

why don't you read the post i mentioned i think that will help to clear up any mis info you might have !:D Happy to help !

Xchoke03 05-22-2008 08:31 PM

To be honest no. But I promise I will do a detailed comparison soon.
As soon as I can get on the boat with one of my boys and shake the wife and kids for a few hours I plan to really document the differences between the 2 sets.

I have ran pretty much the same set up (32B 300s 4 blade cleavers) I think it should have a little more in it. I have seen 98-99 consistantly and i have seen 101.I think playing with motor height is a start before spending money on props. Good luck

what water pressure are you running now?, and make sure you keep an eye on it with the new props . You'll prob get more lift and will need to raise engine heights to get some blade out of the water. Do you know what rake these props are?

Xchoke03 05-24-2008 08:46 PM

These props are 14.50 x 30P 5B. I have worked pretty tight with Matt and Julie and sent an extensive set of pics of my set up. Changed a few things the way they told me to so first thing tomorrow I'll give it a shot. I'll be sure to let you know how it works out !!
