I am in Marlboro NJ so we are not to far at all. For sure I'll spread the word about your 24. I actually took the wife and kids out today to the Barnegat Bay. We launched in Seaside and went North thru the Canal and out the Point Pleasant Inlet, Made a big U turn in the Ocean and head back. Nice 2 hours, water in bay was choppy as hell (very windy) but the boat was silk.
FF2 LG is about my favorite place on earth but Never been there in Summer. I always go up in the Winter and Sstay at the Riding High Ranch and Ski, snowmobile and all. Beautifull Place you have there. I'll come up in October for Sure !!! |
32 Skater
Congrats on your new boat.

Mark House had a 32 triple 300x boat here on the Potomac. From what he told me, the outside motors are behind the sponsons, somewhat protected, also helps to provide good water flow to the props to keep it from loading and unloading quite as much. The center motor runs in the tunnel, no protection and is subject to somwhat irratic water flow in rougher conditions.

That is Marks old boat in the pics. That boat never ran over 115 on our river.
I would love to hear any and all info anyone is willing to share on 32' ers with triple set ups. |
The 32 with the trip 300x's that Shogren had. The last owner lived in VA and boated on our river. I am not saying its not capable, but it never did it as far as I know. I am pretty sure it ran 114.7 or something in the radar run 2 years ago on our river. I raced him at least 10 times and he ran almost an identical speed to my 28 w/300 promax's. I am sure he was carrying a ton of fuel but just saying....I never saw the boat run the numbers that were mentioned. The center motor did give him some troubles...and I think the center lower about 2 or 3 times.
|
For the record , my 32 had a center engine water deflector in the mold . It was like a 3 ft ski ramp , I cut it off ,it looked like ****
Larry |
I was the one that owed this boat for over a year . The fastest I ever seen was 118.2 mph when low on fuel but keep in mind that was with the props I received with it when I purchased it. They were 3b 34's on the outside and a 3b 32 on the center and the props were in good but NOT perfect shape. With perfect thinned 3b 34's I believe 122 mph would be possible.
|
What year did you own my 32 ? I would be happy with 105 with a new pair of 300Opti's ! I have been running the new Hydromotive Ouad 4- X 28 on my IO race boat and night and day over any other prop I tested . What type of prop runs best for OB Skater ?? I would rather have a prop that works best in mid range with 5 people than a prop that only shines @ WOT

Thanks Skater. When you owned the boat did you have much trouble with the center Engine ?
Any info you can give I greatly appreciate ! |
In no way shape or form do I think it would make sense for a third on our 32 , not worth extra fuel , weight , stress on transom and rigging for an extra 10 MPH !! I will be extremely happy if my hunk of **** runs 100 MPH with new 300 Opti's !

What is most inportant to me is that it stays together for 600 hours , no blower boat can do that

Any luck on the sale of the 24 ? I got your message at the office but was running around a ton myself. I'll try to catch you tomorrow.
Patrick |
I think it might be sold , my buddy who lives in Dallas Tx , near Lake Lewisville wants it . I sold him my spotless 21 ft outboard Checkmate .
Larry |
Larry,
are the motors going right on the transom or are you using some setback? Johnny |
I just filled the holes if you remember Skater ran Hyd hoses thru transom . Yes I will run CMC Stainless Jackplates . You said you ran jacks , but in thoses pics I can't tell .
Larry |
Manual jacks yes.

This weekend is Bad , but I will for sure take you up on that offer !!! How far are you from cherry hill NJ?
Larry |
I live in Marlboro (just North of Freehold by Colts Neck) so it can't be but 30 or 40 minutes.
I know I owe you transom pics, I haven't had a chance with the cruddy weather but I plan to wash/wax the boat tomorrow for the weekend and I'll snap off a few. Let me know if there is any real specific shots you want to see. Patrick |
I would love to see int shots , esp back seat . As far as Transom area goes , the Motor well, engine mounting area and cockpit floor . In the Cocpit I have a grid system because my boat was built as a race boat , now it is a pimp wagon , so I need to remove the trip Hazard
Larry |
Hey Larry, I talked to my dad who tells me the motors were bolted right on the transom. Sorry for the bad info.
Johnny |
Thanks ! I kept looking at the pic and said where are they !
Larry |
Hows the project going Larry?
Johnny |
I have been huffing dust 8 hrs a day on this thing , I removed the the center engine water deflector on top of tunnel , filled all transom holes and about to bond in an extra 1.5 of transom , made from 3 pcs of 5 ply 1/2 plywood lamanated together . After the inner transom is done I will make a fiberglass motor well to finish off the rear of boat because Skater never did .After that is done , I will paint it . Does anyone have the Center to Center engine spacing on a 32 Classic outboard ?
Larry |
Sounds Good. You will love this boat when its done.
|
I just hope that I get to drive it before my balls are dragging the ground or riding a Lark or Rascal !!!!!
