Rik, I have really thought of adding a 3rd to my 32' with twins 300X's but am a bit weary. I have heard many are against it due to problams with the center engine. Can you give any info at all scince you know this boat. Thanks in advance !!

Larry I have very limited seat time and I have seen 94 @ 5500 RPM's. I am currently running 14.5 X32 3 blade labbed Merc cleavers. I have on order a set of Throttle Up 5 blade CNC 14.5 X 30P props that I am very excited to test out. p.s. sorry I forgot to call I have been running crazy @ work. Hope this helps. |
Greg Riechman purchased the boat from Mills so he can tell you more about it.
You are probably better off with twins as far as maintainance is concerned. The center engine does take a beating from the tunnel water. Paul Whitter put four on his 32. 2 per sponson. |

How did it run? did it solve the problam of the Dirty water in the tunnel the 3rd engine gets ? Any chance you know how the steering was ? Top end ? Any info would be great. |
From my Exp , unless you have a high slip # , more blades will cause more drag and slow you down . I race with OPA , and stopped labbing props , Hydromotive out of the box out performed Labbed Merc props . I spend 99 % of time not at full throttle when I pleasure use my old race boat ( for sale under race boats 24 BRT ) , and with lab props I have seen higher slip ratio at crise and only a slight increase at WOT . I will never waste my money again !

Larry,
I was told the same always, less blades more speed. Then a gentleman who won the Austrailian open race earlier this season (32 Skater W 2.5's I believe) came on this very board and said that the 5 blade Throttle up props Blew away any 3 blade prop he ever used. I think his average speed was 110. I took interest in this, I starting asking questions and I have been told by folk way more experienced than myself that these Throttle Up CNC props are insane. Most are getting 5 to 8 MPH increases in top end and a much smoother quicker exceleration. I hope to report my real life findings for you shortly !! |
Aerent they Hydromotive ??? Time and time again , all I gained was just a few on top end with a big loss in mid range . I WILL NEVER PAY FOR A LABBED PROP !!!
|
Xchoke, my dad throttled a tripple 32 for a long time. If you have any more questions give him a call at 518-644-3080, ask for Jason. They run great.

The Skater I just bought has a sticker on trailer from Lake George . It is a 88 32 Skater OB boat
|
Is it white?
|
Yes . It had triples at one time , I bought it minus power . Could it be the same boat ? Peter told me it was built for someone in north jersey or ny . It is Kevlar /Vinylester layup
|
If that is the old Stylin (it might be I think its one year to new though) you have one of the best running 32s in the world. There was something abou that boat that made it just about unbeatable in the early 90s. Ill post some pics later.
|
That is real cool if it is the same boat !! Act do you have any pics of her now ?? I realize you have alot of work you want to do but it would be cool to watch your progress.

There is a Performance marine sticker on my painted Black triple axle trailer steel trailer . According to Peter , the boat was built as Race /Pleasure , it has grid system in cockpit which I'm going to modify to make it more of Pleasure boat .

I have tons, movies too, but they all need to be scanned and the movies are on VHS. Id be happy to send a tape to ya though. We even still have all the trophies. That boat won 1st overall in Barnegate bay against many ob 32s and even the How Sweet It Is boat in the classifieds..

I live in south jersey , Cherry hill area . I have been in boating for 25 years , mostly Outboards . I have been in Bill Butterfields 28 Skater with 2-300 x , it is was very fast , I think 110 . Please help me sell this 24 ft one of Kind race / pleasure so I can hang new 300 Opti's on my Skater . Right now it is under race boats . I bought the boat cheap and will make the way I want with new 300 Opti's and Hyd / electric Latham steering and new paint for around 60 k . I restore cars for a living , so labor is all me , the only way a poor bastard like me can get a skater . I just cut off the water deflector in tunnel for third engine and also adding 1.75 thickness to inside of Transom .

Thank you for invite !! From the pics , doesn't like like any Jack plates ?? Is that the same trailer ? Did you sell it to a guy in Ohio ?
Larry |
They were Manual CMC 5 1/2 inch jackplates. Yeo same trailer. Originally the boat was Chin Chin, Al Rullo bought it from him and raced it with my father, then it was sold to a guy named Angelo on the lake. It wasnt used much and he sold it to a guy in Florida. After that I guess it just worked its way back up north.
|
I bought it from Canada , and he bought it from Ohio . I wonder who has the race hatch ??? As mentioned earlier , I'm making it an aft cabin !! No disco lights !!!
Larry |
I am in Marlboro NJ so we are not to far at all. For sure I'll spread the word about your 24. I actually took the wife and kids out today to the Barnegat Bay. We launched in Seaside and went North thru the Canal and out the Point Pleasant Inlet, Made a big U turn in the Ocean and head back. Nice 2 hours, water in bay was choppy as hell (very windy) but the boat was silk.
FF2 LG is about my favorite place on earth but Never been there in Summer. I always go up in the Winter and Sstay at the Riding High Ranch and Ski, snowmobile and all. Beautifull Place you have there. I'll come up in October for Sure !!! |
What ride did you have before the 32 ?? Please descibe the ride diff between your old ride and your 32 Skater OB . How fast @ 4000 Rpm ??
Larry |
I come out of a 1989 Cig 35' Cafe Racer, 502's with TRS Drives. To be honest my friend the differences are so many that the only similarities are the fact they both run in water.
Don't quote me and I'll check next time for sure but I think at 4000 RPMs I run the mid 60's. |
Simply put compare the old boat and 32 Skater runnning 80 mph in 3-4 footers
