Back in the old days we used bell hose that they used to ring the bell at full service gas stations,then we up graded to shock cord,as far as the paint,never had any issues with it scuffing the paint.But one thing you might keep in mind is not to make them to tight to where you blow the seals on the trim rams...Bob
