If I did not already own a very recent Skater, I would make an offer on the 32 W/T300xs, and fly up to test drive it. It is an 'awesome' example of what Skated does best, not an "oinker"! My personal opinion on speed, is that 98 is it, under normal conditions. Perhaps a bit more it someone spends time and money, on testing, with various setups and props.

A 32 with 300xs's is far from a "pig" as you state! I know, as I have a 32B with 300xs's and can tell you that true it won't quite touch 100 but it accelerates very hard and is super responsive. Setup and usability is always a give and take, with the 300x's you will get more top end speed ( you have more rpm) but you give up bottom and mid range due to the lack of tq compared to the 300xs's, not to mention the difference in fuel savings. There are quite a few board members who have been out in my 32 and I'm sure will attest to the fact of how well it runs

I've seen pics of your boat, it is gorgeous, and have been told by many, that she runs like stallion.

As an owner of a Skater 308 with T/300xs I can attest to the midrange acceleration, 102+mph, and 2.3-2.5mpg.

I should also point that Bills 30 with 5 hours and warranties, is a virtual twin to my boat, and is another 'awesome' example of what Skater does best. It will make for another great deal on a great boat for someone.

Frank
You are dead on with your comments about both the 32 for sale as well as the 308, and thank you for the kudos on my boat

Hey I'm very sorry if I offended you that's the last thing I would want to do to another Skater Brother. I think the 32 is a gorgeous boat. My concerns where hitting the century mark. But for big water and fuel efficiency you can't beat that set up. I have 300X's on my 28 and have become addicted to big numbers on lakes and rivers. Please accept my apologies.

Hi Skate
No offense taken and I appreciate your apology. I was just trying to keep the thread positive for the folks who own and or are selling their 32s with 300xs's as they truly are spectacular offshore boats.

it does not really sound like a 328???

this is a 328!!!

but in no way will it affect the sale!!!

gorgeous boat!!!

9'6" is supposed to be a regular 32b. The race boat pictured , as you know is my old COB raceboat, which had the tunnel widened 8" to get to a 60" tunnel width. This boat actually measured 10'3" wide, at the widest point, which leads me to believe that a standard 32b that has been cut down and is a flat deck is actually 9'7" if you drop plumb lines from the widest points and measure that distance. George Linder actually changed the rules to max allowable width of 10'6" in cob class after both mine and ryan's first 30' measured over 10' wide.
Dan , we'll have to drop some plumb lines from my current 32 and check it out!

If you get me the gear ratio and the redline i can plug the #'s into mercurys prop slip calculator based on my previous 328 raceboat. That had 15" 2.5's with a 2:1 ratio and you'll lose some mph from a fully enclosed raceboat to an open cockpit, but I bet you can get close. Some people have got to a 5% prop slip or less on a well set up boat.

Also, I was thinking the boat was a 328 with the widened tunnel, so that will make a difference.

The gear ration on a 300xs is 1.62 to 1 and redline is 6300 RPM. Might be able to swing 30 or 31 pitch 4 blades. So the boat should run 94 to 97.
