The 7D is not for the 'novice', it's big, heavy, expensive and has a billion settings, but when set and used properly, it is amazing. Every time I use it, I learn something to make the shots look better.

Appsyscon, How is the reliability of the 300XS's (gearcases) on your boat?

DK,

During the first 2 years, I went through 6 lower units, at regular 15-20 hours intervals. After fighting with everyone involved, I decided that I needed to get involved and figure out what was wrong. After I found and fixed the installation and setup problems, they have been perfect. I have not had any lower unit problems in the last 1 3/4 years.

Was the shift seal the problem and installed vent kit to cure problem ? Just noticed cracked case

No, I never had any water in the geat lube. The cracks were above the gear area.

WOW, glad you gut it figured out. This is my only concern with this setup.
