How did you shape it to that board-like shape?

is it 2 molds such that when the products are pulled out they will be glassed together?

Each hatch was cored along with a 3/8 thick x 3 " x 6inch alum plate incorpated in lay-up that was frill and tapped 3/8 so the hinge could attach . Bottom line I hate to see (Barn door " hinges or ( strap hinges ) with visible screws or bolts .

I also have engineered a slick automatic system that is invisable . Off the rear hinge I have a 9/16 stainless rod attached to hinge @ pivot point , shaft is 12 inches long and runs aft thru upper deck bulkhead ( acts as a carrier bearing ) and on end of shaft I have a 6 inch stainless lever that will be coupled to a high speed (1.5 " per second ) Linear Actuator that will be completely out of view . Bottom line hatch looks like this when opened with no visible strong arm in your way. This is the crap that takes forever !!! Good news Powerheads will be in very soon !!

What's really great about this resto is your ability to (not only restore, but fabricate custom pieces rather than "buy and rely" on the man.....sort of speak!........... really, what's better than when you can do it better yourself.........Hope I can take this inspiration into my restoration.
