Does Skater have any boats being built with the new 1350/M8 package???

I was thinking the same thing...

It would be nice to see a skater with the Merc 1350's to have a high hp comparison between different builders. This would eliminate some of the builder + or - factor of hp.

So far no one has ordered one.I am sure if mercury wanted to see how much faster their motors were in a skater,and wanted to loan one out,I am sure Peter would oblige.
In the meantime,there will be plenty of 1350s in other boats at Desert Storm trying to beat the skaters.

I'd like to be on that list as well, but I don't see Merc giving too many 1350's away.
I can understand why someone would elect to go with other power $. I know it won't stop everyone some don't care what the price is, they just want what is latest greatest (good for them they make it interesting). Time will tell.:drink:

I know they are still new but I am surprised that the subject of maintaince and rebuilds has never come up, if it costs aprox
$ 25000 each to redo 1075s, and this package is twice as much will they in voice be $ 100000 per pair to rebuild them, even if they do last 200hr tbo I don't care who you are that has got to be cost prohibative.

One out of 3 aint bad but I would not call it dominate.

There is a difference in running a kilo and running all the way to Key West for top speed. There is also a difference in a purpose built canopy drag boat and a open cockpit pleasure boat.........Last Kilo run: 2010 LOTO Shoot Out at a 40mph start.

David Scott in a full drag canopy 50' Mystic at 208mph
Chip Romer in a pleasure open cockpit Skater 388 at 186mph
Leon Derebery in a old open 36' Classic Skater at 177mph
Gary Smith in a 40SS open/pleasure Skater at 165mph

Gino Gargiulo...................155mph

A friend here in Atlanta just took delivery if his New 48 MTI with 1350Mercs and #8 drives. Boats name is Windship!! Paint job has same color sceme as his Bell Long Ranger Helicopter.:drink:

Nordic's new Cat flagship has the Skater hull (licensed) and I saw the 1350's and M8s on the warehouse floor the other day touring the facility. It should be interesting.........

I would not consider a 50 mystic a drag boat, raceboat yes. Your point doesn't take away the fact that the boats I mentioned are faster, but the power is not as reliable (in your opinion).
This brings us to the same question what will a 388 do with merc 1350?

Scott's Mystic had drag motors in it for the shoot out that probably wouldn't run for anything other than a shootout..I believe they were on methanol or alcohol 2200+ hp So yeah I would also say drag boat... Gino's boat went 193 or 4 setup for top end ,.Romers 388 went 186 in what 2 miles tops?He can easily change setup for top end.. Jet Set a old 40 skater went 196 on small turbine power.

So lets compare apples to apple's.. If you want to look at all skaters records, wins and awards.. Yeah I'd say DOMINATE..If it wasn't for the 36 skater there never would have even been an MTI.. Again I would have to say Dominate. Mystic, pretty much purpose built supercat that has made Peter up the antie with the new big boys...

Chip Romer boat had some really big power with PSI blowers. Leon's boat was a small, light weight 32' with big power around 1300's
Gino's 44 was not setup for a short run at the Shootout. The Shootout is a drag race with only one mile to run. Skater guys are so sensitive if you dare mention another hull is as fast or faster. Mystic, MTI or Skater I would be happy with any of them.

In 2010 Leon was in a stock old 36' classic, Noreaster at 177mph. Yes Gino was ready, he knew he was going to a kilo run, has some big motors also and I think he had a bet. Yes, Chip has a open pleasure boat with big motors at 186mph and 192GPS running the kilo. Sensitive, just stating facts.
