I LOVE the Blue. Beautiful Boat!!!

MJT 03-04-2011 08:47 AM

Thanks for all the support/comments on this site.

I want to personally thank Pete Hledin and his entire staff at Douglas Marine, Mike D’Anniballe at Sterling Performance, Bill Pyburn for all the advice with setup and tweaking along the way (and for probably driving him nuts with question after question) and Blume Loe who kept the project moving and was a huge help with the details, pictures and advice.

The friendship’s that have been made with building this boat thus far has been the most enjoyable part of this entire project.

Now if we can get some sunshine and/or boating weather along with $3.00 gas (yeah right) the summer should be fantastic………………

Thanks to all again!
Mike

Marina: Conley Bottom Resort

The Bennington is a 2275RLI Tri-Toon with a Merc 250. Runs out around 65mph. :drink::drink::drink:

Well crap, then I'm sure I'll see you around. Did the trailering game last year, this year it's going back in a slip at conley for the season.

I've got a 2550 RCW tri toon with a 250 verado. Mine can't be that much bigger overall than yours, yet you get 20+mph more out of it than I do? :angry-smiley-038:

I need a vice president and a campaign donation? (and no the world ain't ready for Gus) :lolhit:

Leave it to you to bring in the politics..........I can assure you of one thing, we would get back to the grass roots that this country use to be based on!

You think we can park the Skater at the White House and get weekends off?

Look us up the season........over on Crazy Eight in the holler! Houseboat name is Illusion.

Went to Lee's Ford with 10 on board last year and ran 49mph on gps. Does yours have the performance upgrade on the toons? It made a huge difference on this boat over the other one I had and it turns like a vee bottom at speed!

I didn't get mine till late in the season last year, and spent a little bit of time playing with props and motor height. I'm currently running a 15P prop, which allows me to top out at 44 and change, no matter how many people are on board, and how much fuel is in the tank. I've got all the performance package upgrades possible. But, with the front and rear extended deck layout, it's actually 30+ft long, and with the extras like the 60gal. fuel tank, it's close to 5000 lbs.
I was told to expect low-mid 50's with it by every dealer I talked to. I added a smartcraft mercmonitor to it over the winter. Hopefully it can give me some further info as to what's going on with it.

hijack off. back to skater talk.

Justin,

Gotta a little conflict as that is the same weekend as the Lake Murray Poker Run / Columbia, SC June 24-25.

I like the idea that you are going out of Grider Hill this year and you guys have put on a great run in the past.

Not locked in any plans as of yet so we'll see. By the way do you have room for the houseboat at the dock during this run?

Mike

Awesome Blume! I also love the Blue. I would love to see a RED Skater with some cool graphics. Everyone seems stuck on Oranges for some reason.

I have a quick question. You have explained the 388SLW = Super Light Weight.

What are the different models that Skater currently offers and what does the "SS" stand for? Obviously the 388 is length.

We appreciate all of the updates
.

The SS is for Super Sport. The 388SS or SLW is 38' Long with no bussel and 11' beam. I will put all the models up tomorrow. Here's a red one that needs to be built.

Yeah, I would like to see someone buy it and put surface drives/rudder and some Mercury 1350's in it.

Yes, that is why more need to come to the Big Cat poker run up here at the california delta. Plenty of room for long runs. Heck go all the way to San Francisco and get some tv time on a Giants game!!!

skater40 03-19-2011 10:03 PM

You want to make a bet on that?

No problem! The boat has been a really fun project and can't wait to go pick it up. If the weather holds I may go after it this week.

You bought a really nice piece yourself. I looked at your boat at cumberland a couple of years ago and that paint job is really sharp on the water. I have friend of mine who owns a 36 coupe and with 1100's and it will run in the 140's all day.

If you get to cumberland looks us up.........have fun and be safe with your 36,

Mike
