I was also told that a wrap around windshield might slow the boat down 5 mph and would be very expensive. I'm getting some info buy it's slow. |
great to see this!!!! I'm very interested!!!

blum.....pete has about 20 very SMALL quarter canopies stored in his pole building that would be perfect for the 28's............he would have to change the deck abit 2k -3k, graft them in, and if i recall we paid about 1,000$ for these little ones. my guess is it should not cost your clients any more than 5 k
thx chris |
call jim styke he did it
|
|
Nice! The negative dihedral polycarbonate windshield is worth 15k alone jmo/. Again, nice work.
|
Spoke to Carmen yesterday and I am going to make a template of the top edge of the cockpit and send it to them. Had a good conversation with her. She is optimistic that they can come up with a piece that will have some sort of fiberglass base that would bolt through the top. I also conveyed that cost is a concern and that we do not have the budget of a 38'. She also said once the base is figured out they could make them as tall as someone wanted. It would be out of 3/8" material.
Stay tuned! |
I agree!
Carmen is top notch in the windshields industry. |
Very nice look ............. Carmen does do a great job ........ She knows her stuff !
Installation could be the next question $$ ? |
that looks good, hard to tell from the photos but it looks like it will end up just about at the race hatch for those who have them
|
don't freak out on me , but what is wrong with the Aero-tek design ?
That was kind of what I envisioned , kind-of a MTI look, but much shorter |

When Aero Marine comes out with one everyone should look at both and buy the one they like and is in there price range. Talked to Aero Marine today and they are designing one only because ya'll are asking for it. They are busy and it is the season and new boats are selling. A lot of effort is going into this for the 28' owners.
Thanks Blume for getting the word to them also. |

Sorry for sounding irritated but every thread always has this unnecessary BS to them.

If I understand correctly, Double Rigged is sending a pattern to Areo Marine of the top area were a windshield would go. Areo Marine is going to take the pattern and design a base that will fit on top of that area and the base will have a 3/8 inch windshield built on top of the base. Installation would be very simple, just setting on top and through drilled.
|
that's very simple and what I was looking for !

Only other issue would be salt water on the windshield.... Need lots of rainx or will have to come up with washer system next. |

I think you will be able to go faster as she will have that false sense of security until you take that first long jump out of the water!

Can't see much. Can she post a line drawing side profile? Going to make template today. Tks.
I was thinking someone said they didn't like the flat plexi with the heavy corner brackets ?? |
Saw that pic on FB, looks like the windshield a guy in AZ had custom made for his 28. His 28 also had no rubrail, I believe it was for sale on OSO a while back.
|
Same windshield Joe from DBR has on his triple 28. His dad made those brackets. They had three sets and his friend got one of them. Nice find on the video. Looks like it needs to be a little higher. I am talking to Bob at Latham Marine about making some brackets as a back up plan. I did the template today and will overnight To Aero tomorrow. I am hopeful she will come up with something good. I think it should carry back past he front seat to make it look sleek. I think this will change the interest in the 28 a allow you to cruise at 85mph with ease!
|
guy I made the windscreen for said the wrong height really affects the ride alot, so it seems that it would have to rake far back and be tested for its possible affect on the handling of the boat.

the longer and farther back it goes you would think it should put a little more down force on the hull, that would affect the pressure in the tunnel too. less bow lift?????
