New 388SS

1 Attachment(s)
This is going to be a new exciting build. A 388SS with Mercury Racing 700SCI's, NXT transom assy and #6 dry sump drives. 6 seat cockpit, wrap around windshield and a tunnel extension/bussel. In a world of all monster power this is really a nice change.

I will put progression pictures of the build if anyone would like to see the build process of this boat?

Downtown42 03-19-2012 04:50 PM

where is the 6th seat?

Dan Adams 03-19-2012 05:01 PM

Yes, please do.

Spiderman 03-19-2012 05:06 PM

A blessing for insurance.

2 in front 4 in back, it will look like this. Our graphics rendering only shows a 5 man cockpit.

Just curious, from the time a customer pulls the trigger on a project like this, how long does it take until they receive the finished boat.

Looks great, keep posting progress pics.

Spicy 03-19-2012 08:24 PM

Great!!!!

Looking forward to following this project

Cash Bar 03-19-2012 08:30 PM

Thats pretty good!

Spiderman 03-20-2012 05:54 AM

AFTER the hull (bottom) comes out of lamination.......It goes into accembly, at that point it takes about on an average 6 months to paint...........paint/sanding /buffing/repairs is about 2 months.......from there the boat goes forward to rigging........expect 2 months.........at a good pace......10 months at best

blume 03-20-2012 08:18 AM

This 388SS will be to the new customer early June 2012

Yes that's Top Cat, hey Blume what is the top speed of that boat? Does it still have the NXTs or did they switch to the 6s? And it had 525s correct?

This was always one of my favorites. Love the colors and the tasteful paint job. I would be curious on the speed as well.

I'm curous about this as well. Can you in a few short details explain the diff. between SS and SLW, and can the 520, 46 308, Fat Boys ect. be build as SLWs? Back in the day when the SLW was Peters boat, I remember reading something about it being a one-off, but is the SLW build something that all your customers can order now?

I'll do my best to answer this: any size boat can be a SLW. An SLW has foam coring (what some poeple call a race lay-up) instead of balsa coring which males it lighter. Yes the SLW is now available on all models.

noli 03-23-2012 08:15 AM

.

Blume,

for SLW hulls and with the hull-bottom fully foam cored, is the boat 100% wood-free? or will other parts of the boat (deck?) still get the balsa core?

Also, how much more are SLW 388's in cost over the non-SLW 388. You don't need to post $$$ amounts here, just a percentage cost over non-SLW would suffice....thanks.

The bilge will be silver/grey color and the motors and drives will be the Mercury Fire Orange pearl color.

A simple and understandable good answer. Thanks Blume.
What kind of weight savings are there between a bare SS and SLW hull? The 388 for example?
