Very interested in this build. If you have the time could you PM some more photos of the transom and other photos of the motor room and how you did the stringers ? I have a old pair of Alfa SS's that mite fit the bill ?

I'll see if I can dig up some more pics. I'm not sure Alphas would live very long, maybe if you put 1 1/4 propshafts in them. I think the fat shafts from outboards are the same, but I'm not sure.
I've broke 2 1" propshafts in the Bravos already. I haven't even fired mine up this summer yet, all the lakes around me are flooded and no ramps usable. |

When racing we would check the props for cracks after every race. Never lost a shaft on the SS's. Did bend one when I lost a blade. My bad, need to check closer. With full surfacing props cracks are a part of life.

What does a 5.3 weigh compared to a SBC and what does a low milage 5.3 go for these days?
Big price difference in a 5.3 to a. 6.0 ? |
Mine are aluminum and the long block is supposed to weigh 390. The iron block motors are supposed to be 90 pounds heavier. I'm not sure what a SBC weighs.
Prices seem to be going up on them here lately. $750ish for an iron 5.3 is what I've been seeing. Probably $1200 for an aluminum block 5.3 or iron 6.0 |
How did you get a tach signal ? Is there an ecm output? I just started getting 2 ready for a 28 formula

There is an ecm output for tach and works great. The Formula sounds like a cool project. |
