That's what I thought Jim bull told me.. Good, I'm not loosing my memory! :lolhit:

As for making all that extra speed with just prop work.. That's pretty impressive work.. I'm gonna have to keep believing there's more too it. My mystic has 1350's. Hard to believe...

Lickity Split has 1550 sterlings. Still my favorite engines..

Its really about the buyers opinion. Skaters have more of a classic look with the newer ones, in my opinion I like mtis more because of the lines but I have been in a few mtis and a 40 skater and the skater rode amazing!! jm.02

If Blume gets his way I will b to build a 388 to run on my lake in Texas and run my 48 in the poker runs, so ill check back in the may15th and let you guys know who I believe the winner is. As for Bob the guy with 186 mph loto boat it is stock 1350's they just do crazy stuff with props. I ran in KW with Bob and Randy and the rest of the MTI guys and I know personally what those guys are doing. As for the guy talking to Randy about the center console, my wife road in it to Boca Grande and loved it, so go ahead if 75 is your speed. And to the guy who said MTI's are slow call Bill Pyburn and ask him how slow they are when he couldn't keep up with Richie in his 44 or Bob in his 48 or Dereck in his corvette boat. He may can tell you otherwise. Sorry this is so long but i read to much stuff from a bunch of guys who wish they knew what they were talking about.

Still no way they are stock, he ran what 172-175 range in 2011 shoot out, I'm sorry but the boat had to be pretty dialed in there. And to pick up 10-12 mph with props is pretty nuts... And ya they should run those Mtis up against Predator at Desert Storm!! Along with JRs new 388 & Romers old 388!!!

Here is what I "Believe" to be Mr. Bull's 2nd 48' MTI race boat (now :Gasse #2) with the Merc 1350's. Stock or not stock is of no concern. I also "Believe" that the current pleasure boat was originally Mr. Bull's #1 48' MTI which was originally rigged with Sterlings and #6's with a rudder. Subsequently, the boat has been rerigged with 1350's and M8's with the rudder being deleted from the hull. Once again engines being stock are not of my concern and I could be totally incorrect.

As to which is faster??? If one was to judge by the new "SBI Superboat Class" the Maritimo hull was fastest with the 388 Skater close behind. The MTI's were farther back in the field.

Thing about Poker Runs is that not everyone is giving their all when the guy who is giving his all passes the others that are cruising or going slower due to passenger concerns. So the fastest Poker Run boat is not necessarily meaningful nor applicable to which is the faster boat. It's far more about "Stylin"!

Since I'm bored I thought I would give a little input.
Yes Bob's pleasure boat is his old race boat, no one has tried to claim other wise. That is why it is listed for sale as a 2008 model. Not sure why it would matter as the race boats have the same bottom as the pleasure boats. It might be a little heavier do to the conversion.
Also it is still a Rudder boat. That is simple because Bob likes the feel of a Rudder boat. It doesn't make it any faster, in fact some think it slows acceleration because of the lack of trim range. I really don't know what it had as far as power for the shootout, and I would bet that no one on here KNOWS for sure either. They might have ideas, but Randy and Bob would never leak that info. I do know of several things done prop and rigging wise that helped increase the speed dramatically. :party-smiley-004:
I'll let everyone else figure out which boat is fastest. I've got to figure which MX bike will make my kids faster.lol:ernaehrung004:

Whos faster in a Poker Run or a Shootout means nothing. Skater is dominating Supercat Lite for a reason. Theres a reason Amsoil sponsored a Skater. The original, the best on the race course. Both boats are exceptional pleasure boats, cant go wrong with either to have a helluva lot of fun!

I think Johnny and David S. did around 2002 or 2003 and I think it was 202mph in a 36' Skater.

speicher lane 11-28-2012 06:08 PM

2003 was the 202.9 mph SBI Kilo run in the 36' Bacardi Silver..

Geez I have yet to see an mti pass our 388....oh wait there was a guy from NY with a 48 with 1350's that told everybody he was going to spank us at Rock the Bay but when he couldn't and we had it on video he told everybody that I was a dangerous driver and he had the wrong props on but gosh darn the guy had 10 sets with him....surely he could have picked the right set.
I have no dog in this hunt...We are small time....only ever owned one skater but then again it was the only one we ever needed because nobody has beaten us and it runs ever time we turn the key
It's a Skater Nation....... Rock on!!!!

Now that's the kind of smack talkin I was expecting when I started this thread.

I feel better about my boat that I have never run and can't run till March every day.

Thanks for making my winter more enjoyable.

Still can't get over how tiny those MTIs are.

:party-smiley-004:I would say he has more. 1100hp in a 40 MTI should be 160 (and maybe a bit more) from what I have seen if it is running 6's.

You are correct....i did not do the run I just did the start because the guy with the mti said he came to whip our ass.... Hung with him through the beginning and pulled him at Turkey point..... Go on YouTube and search 388 skater...it is about a 10 sec video taken from a spectator boat....he is off in the distance.....just look for the long rooster tail...that is him. Like I said not trying to get in to a pissing contest but if you have done the run you should know the boat.....and if you we're with the cats you were behind me
