Very cool boat and vid?? Look @ vid around 4.10 , it appears mist is still being injested ?

Zero Patience 12-12-2012 03:46 AM

The mist is still back there, but the power heads are always dry now. The side inlets are forward of the mist. The mist starts at about 105 mph and continues on from there. Thanks for pointing it out, a lot of outboards eat water and salt.

KEVLARKAT32 12-12-2012 06:26 AM

I think I was told that running popit valve kits will resolve this issue .
How many miles was that run and what was your best speed ?

Double Rigged 12-12-2012 06:33 AM

I run the same cowlings and have had Mike Nass get me the air ducts for inside. I have run my motors in salt water their whole life. The motors are absolutely perfect and dry with no salt. These things work.

offshoresteve 12-12-2012 10:02 AM

The popet valves worked for me, they dump a massive amount of water out the side of the motor, not the rear, works well. I like they new cowlings though, who made them?

Mike Nass in Canada made them. They are great. Kinetic animation made the decals.

Narrow river so we used no positive trim, notice you never see them move. 34 miles each way. Never exceeded 114. Mostly 100 to 105

Zero Patience 12-12-2012 06:03 PM

Thank you for the compliments. Double Rigged hooked me up on the cowls and Dewald props.

KEVLARKAT32 12-12-2012 07:04 PM

Can you tell me your fuel burn round trip ?

Larry

Zero Patience 12-12-2012 07:18 PM

The smartcraft says 22.4 gallons

KEVLARKAT32 12-12-2012 07:20 PM

That's about what I get ....about 28 to 30 gals per hr @90+mph per Sc5000 Race Veiw,Running Dewalds as well.

Nice looking 28 you have!!

LAriverratt 12-13-2012 05:59 AM

boat looks great. mine has the rear seats all the way to the back of the boat with no access to the pumps and all without tilting or removing the seat.. a real PIA. planning on a re-rig next fall to move them ahead like yours and the newer 28's.

I moved mine forward, then cut the race hatch to fit. Added screw jack for lifting.

That's the most unique carpet I have seen in awhile. Is that three separate pieces? Pretty clean look

It is not carpet, it's Sea-Deck, a rubber product that sticks down. Tyler at Castaway Customs, scans the boat, then adds your design ( Skater, teak look, etc.), and a two axis router cuts it out. It is a little warmer than white fiberglass but much softer to step on and nothing slides around. Very durable stuff. We have a Black Sea Deck pad between the engines where you climb back into the boat.

Skate, I do re rigs or modifications.

yours is awful nice but I think I'm stuck with mine for awhile :lolhit:.

Zero, I have the race hatch for mine and that's what I had thought about doing...think I might move my seat a little farther than you tho. I'd like enough room for fenders and a cooler to fit. How far forward did you move yours?

Zero Patience 12-16-2012 06:09 PM

1 Attachment(s)
The seat was moved forward 21 inches. We haul a 4 foot fender and luggage on overnight trips back there. Any farther forward and sponson access is limited.

LAriverratt 12-17-2012 06:01 AM

thanks...i didn't think about the side access. I'll have to measure and see what I think I'd be happy with.

yea I know they are busy, if i do a mod set up on mine instead of new stock models I have some time. I plan on running through the summer with my current set up and then doing a total re-rig so I have a some time to get things in order and planned out but it would be nice to have my power all ready and sitting in my shop on some stands before then :evilb:

what are they seeing with the level 2 kits now?

Spoke to Dave today. Glad you all are getting better! Keep the faith and have a merry Christmas. Can't wait to try them out.
