My son Will
1 Attachment(s)
Dear Skater brothers,
My 19 year old son Will was severely injured in an automobile accident July 7. He suffered fractures of C-1 4 & 5. He has fought for his life for two weeks. Today with our merciful Gods' grace he was able to regain spontaneous breathing without a respirator. This was the first major of many hurdles for his recovery. Our plan now is to transfer him from Baptist Hospital in Little Rock to Shepard's Clinic in Atlanta upon their acceptance and bed availability for rehabilitation. We won't be at the LOTO Shootout as planned with our new 338 but concentrating on his recovery efforts. Please lift him and us up in prayer for strength and patience during his rehab. He is inspired by your prayers and support. We have set up a Caring Bridge account where you can follow his remarkable story and recovery and post comments. Pete from Skater and many others have sent videos to my iPhone which has been a remarkable boost to his spirits. If you would like to send him a message go to his Caring Bridge account Will Jirik. If you want to forward a video you can send it to my phone at 50one-690-11three7 Thanks and God Bless Sam Jirik How great is our God?! Phil 4:13; Prov 17:22 It is good that you recognize your weakness. That keeps you looking to Me, your strength. Abundant life is not necessarily health and wealth; it is living. In continual dependence on Me. Instead of trying to fit this day into a preconceived mold, relax and be on the lookout for what I am doing. This mind set will free you to enjoy Me and to find what I have planned for you to do. This is far better than trying to make things go according to your own plan. Don't take yourself so seriously. Lighten up and laugh with Me. You have Me on your side, so what are you worried about? I can equip you to do absolutely anything, as long as it is My will. The more difficult your day, the more I yearn to help you. Anxiety wraps you up in yourself, trapping you in your own thoughts. When you look to Me and whisper My Name, you break free and receive My help. Focus on Me, and you will find Peace in My Presence. |

Heavenly Father, I am raising Will up to you, I ask that you heal him in the name of Jesus! Father I pray that you give his family rest knowing that you will heal him and that through his healing others would be drawn closer to you. I pray to you Father with my heart set upright and with clean hands, i pray to you in full- submission! Father you are the creator of all things, and all things are created through you, Father Will is your creation and I ask that you would speak life back into his body, that his injurys would vanish with your loving whisper to no longer bind him! Father you tell us whatever we ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Father we are asking this now!!
Father.. We love you, we thank you, we give you all the praise and all the glory! We pray this in your sons beautiful name, Amen!! |

What a trip. Kim and Will arrived this morning aboard a chartered Medical Jet. I drove Kim's car over after seeing a few patients this morning. The prayers worked! No driving issues and the State Troopers left me alone and in Alabama even let me thru past an accident scene! I got to see Will for a few minutes. He was finally resting and was in good sprits. He sends his love. The nursing staff is wonderful and they were already making him feel at home. They had creature comforts such as a call button he can use and a TV he does not have to strain to see. They replaced his neck brace with one that looked much more comfortable. They also had a menu which he can chose his meals and the left over apple cobbler was to die for! The mother of one of Will's classmates from Rhodes dropped in to welcome Kim with a big hug and a care package of goodies so don't worry I'm going to be able to maintain this great belt line! Thanks for everything and keep praying for his recovery. Sam |
I'm glad to hear the good news! thanks for keeping us posted. It is encouraging and inspiring to see what prayer, love and positive energy can accomplish

Wow what a place. Shepard's Clinic in Atlanta is amazing. Will was fitted for a chair today and drove it down the hall to the gym like he was in the Skater. I asked the OT about top speed and immediately was given a dirty look and told I was a bad influence! I did notice she had it set for very slow. I'm sure that won't last long! Its going to be a WOT Recovery!
Thanks for the text PMs emails and especially the prayers. Sam |
.
Please keep us posted with Will's progress. God Bless. Noli |
Sam/skate,
i've followed thread lets say from a unique perspective. And wish you folks all the best. I suffered an sci -c5 quad- when i was 22, i'm now 50. I had an amazing family and more importantly a group of friends that would drag my a** here there and everywhere regardless of my chair. I went from being a builder to a designer,to getting a ma in architecture and flying sailplanes and ultralights and.. Yes a few fast and fun boats!! I guess my point is its a long road ahead with plenty of ups and down, just tell your son to laugh and not be afraid to try anything - even if people tell him it is immpossible (and there will be some who do) try it anyway!! Laugh, love, and be merry. ....it sounds trite, take it from someone whose been there, it works. I wish your family all the best. Mike |
