Default 28 Skater Windshield Install from Aero Marine

Well after a long wait I am close to having a windshield. I ordered a kit from Aero Marine. Because I was unsure on the color I got mine in original cast aluminum. After going back and forth I went with Red. Spent some time sanding the pieces, prime and paint. Below are some pics of the front 3 supplied braces in place. The corner pieces fit the contour well as well as the front piece. However through bolting the center brace required some creative drilling to get the bolts in.

I have been waiting for a project thread on this to arrive.

Is the install fairly straight forward or a lot of time in in getting the layout correct? Good to see the new driver there helping out - LOL

Had my son polish all 38 bolts to a fine shine finish. Took him 3hrs.

I have been waiting also. Great start, the red is trick. Are the corner pieces location determined by the glass? Or the boat top curve?

The layout is a little tricky with the supplied glass. Once we got it up on the boat during the intial layout for a sleeker look we decide to make the side pieces longer more in line with the back of front seat. The two front cast pieces really fit the corners nice but you have to be sure to line up the two directions so both pieces of acrylic fit flat. Once the side length was determined and inorder to keep the acrylic the same we made all new pieces here at my shop and custom fit them to the actual boat. I will post some pics later showing them installed with custom support brackets that were made to stiffen the side piecs and provide support.

Pics from the weekend with custom brackets and acrylic that we custom made. Because of the new windshield the old cockpit cover does not fit anymore. Just got a new cockpit cover made with the windshield in place. Anyone need a factory 28 skater cockpit cover in mint condition let me know. I have one for sale.
All remaining parts dropped off at the painter today.

Great job on the side panel pieces, looks like solid aluminum. It will be very stable now.

Great job Ron! I received word yesterday a few times from Peter Hledin at Skater telling me that his referral customer Carl loved his Aero Marine 28 Skater Windscreen kit. He had the standard Clear Ano with the stock windscreen assembly and he dropped it right on the boat. We have had over 5 installs with the original stock installation and one other customer chose to color match with the powder coating like this application. I am glad that you got one of our windscreen applications I am actually going to configure formed pieces as requested by the person you bought your assembly from - he had a great idea, he is about 6'4 and needed more height and suggested a reverse venturi flip. He had a great idea. Your boat looks really great!
