I'm working on hull number 81. It's a solid boat that doesnt seem to have suffered any damage over the years, I started this thread to show the progress. Boat has been stripped and is headed to Richy's Custom paint in Miami. Richy is deleting the rubrail and giving it a complete custom paint job that will continue down the dash and over the console. Dash will be all electronic through garmin and vessel view 7 with custom painted dash panels etc. Interior is at uphlostry now, will keep posting pictures of the progress. Power is low hour 300x, will most likely go with 300xs next year. Thanks for looking, i'm really looking forward to its completion, I have always wanted a 28.

can you use vessel view with a 300X??? I did not think they communicated properly.

erik1976 02-27-2014 05:29 PM

I believe so as long as they are smartcraft motors which they are. If someone can confirm this I would really appreciate it!!

This is going to be a great thread. All of your ideas sound dead on.

Maritime_Eng 02-27-2014 08:27 PM

Eric- Sweet boat! Bring it donw to cape coral when you are done!
What year 300x? The last year of the 300x was compatible with smartcraft.

Double Rigged 02-27-2014 08:56 PM

Erik you will have to send me address of paint shop. Would love to go see boat when it is done before you take it home. It will be a lot of fun on the redo.

RobF 02-28-2014 08:30 AM

double and triple check the core in the bottom if you havent already done so, be a shame for it to show up after all that work

Double Rigged, its in Hialeah right beside where my Renegade is being built, i'll send you Richy's number and you can go see it. Maybe you can confirm my questions abot the vessel view/300x working and wether a gateway will work with these motors and the Garmin I bought from you. Here are pics of the plugs and the Smartcraft gauges that were in the boat.

Motors are still in Canada, if i brought it over this year youd have to tow me around haha

LAriverratt 02-28-2014 10:33 AM

sounds like it's going to be a real nice 28. looking forward to following your progress on it.

Double Rigged 02-28-2014 01:48 PM

Erik,
I will check with my guys at TNT in Miami and let you know. The plug is definitely a smartcraft buss style plug. Does that come from a connecting block or the motor/motor harness?

erik1976 02-28-2014 03:40 PM

Not sure, I'll get Richy to check.

Hi , Eric. You might as well put the windshield on it while undergoing the makeover. Look at the one on Ron's boat next to mine.
I have one on order now. The no rubrail will be beautiful

erik1976 03-01-2014 07:46 PM

Haha, there's only so many dollars in the wallet. I'm going to hold off on the windshield until I see what the rest of this endevor ends up costing.....

Double Rigged 03-02-2014 06:52 AM

Erik
I will tell you it is worth every penny. The wind gets old for sure. There is always wiggle room in the budget for cost overides! Cant wait to see the boat. Let me know when you come down and we can go look at the boat!

Ppg products I believe, here is an example of Richy's work on my renegade before clear. The detail is truly amazing and this picture does it no justice. Richy is a true artist and a pleasure to deal with in every way.

mikebrls 03-12-2014 02:25 PM

look's nice , you will have the best of both world's with those 2 boat's
