Thanks Scott !!!
Not cleared or beveled edge air brushing yet . You can see the deck and the visual effect of the over and under layout . NOT A WRAP ! All hand done
I do not like the carbon fibre look , just not for me . This is a 1/8 alum with alum all thread so no visible screws show and graphics flow through
The stainless grab handle that will be installed on left will have graphics painted through it to match dash

noli 03-14-2014 10:04 PM

.

Looks awesome Larry!

the bolt-less metal dash looks incredible too

Please keep the pics comin'

How's the trailer coming along? painted yet? galvanized yet?

KEVLARKAT32 03-14-2014 10:44 PM

Thanks Noli ! Trailer blasted , ready to get dipped , engines are @ fuller getting test run then dyno run , one is done other has EFI issue

KEVLARKAT32 03-15-2014 09:27 AM

Thanks for the compliment ! I have just one wish to drive this boat before I'm in a Jazzy!

Thank you so much !

What are you getting done to the motors? I just bought a pair of 300x's and will be looking to build them. Didnt you already have a set of 3.0L's. A pair of 400hp twins would be nice on that thing!

SS930 04-03-2014 12:56 PM

I'm glad to see you're working on it again Larry... It's looking good!

Haha Skate why don't you add the third motor to your 308, I think a lot of people are curious how that setup would run

That's simple! I'm married and the boss says He!! No!

Having one of the few twin outboard boats in my area I always get asked about them. I tell everyone they are twice the fun and four times the trouble.:lolhit:

Triples may be three times the trouble to the third power!

KEVLARKAT32 04-08-2014 03:47 PM

My shaun Torrente built 3.2 Litre strokers are doing wonderful !!! However I was under the assumption that they would be machined/ ported properly and last longer than 10 min until they starting eating them self apart !! Shaun said " NO WARRANTY "
Judge for yourself , go to screamandfly.com to gen disc then to engine work .

Flightplan 04-08-2014 10:52 PM

Man that sucks...

Sam, please start a thread on your new 300X engines and their build

thought it would be great to see.

What will you do with your 300XS

Sorry to hear about your experience with STR. I too got hosed to the tune of 13k by David Pou of DP Marine in Chapin SC. He built me one motor and assembled another from junk parts. He was also supposed to replace a relay on my porta-lift jackplate. My engines lasted 1.5 hours before grenading due to no water pressure.Took the boat back to Pou and got hosed again. A stranger (Sparky) offered to look at the motors and we disassembled them to find used pistons, old seals and hacked reed cages! This was his leftover stuff from his racing ventures. I paided for new parts and got CHIT! This was my introduction to performance boating thanks to some clowns, that I stupidly thought were friends, in my area that liked getting poked in the behind repeatedly by Mr. Pou. I'm on permanent restriction on S&F for trying to out him. S&F and OSO have certain vendors that receive protection on these sites. I had hoped the sites would inform and protect us from this garbage, but, it is exactly the opposite! Sorry about your situation. It is enough to make you want to get out of the sport!

Sorry for the engine mess, the boat is beautiful. You have it completed Here is the answer. Warranted.

You only live once.. And I have never seen a Brinks Truck following a Funeral procession.

Double Rigged 04-11-2014 06:17 AM

Larry
You should finish putting the boat together minus power. Then if you decide to really sell it someone would be willing to pay more as all they have to do is hang some motors. You have a lot of time invested in it not finish the journey!

bulletbob 04-11-2014 06:36 AM

You have felt this way about it before as we all have with projects. Take a break from it. Hang in there and finish it. I don't want a project or I would buy it from you now after watching all of the work that you have put into it over the past couple of years. I got hosed as well, but, I dusted myself off and finished the build with another mechanic and also learned how to build the 2.5s' in the process. The 2.5s' are easy to build. Put trip 2.5s on her and let her eat! Then I will buy her. Be strong brother!

Larry, I've seen your cat up close and it is so incredible.

Please take the last 3 posts including mine and think about it more and to finish your awesome boat. Just stay away from it for a few weeks, release the stress, then hit it again.

sell your engines but tell them about what happened. there is always someone interested in engines no matter the state that it's in.

Larry, send me a PM for the selling price of your engines.

KEVLARKAT32 04-11-2014 08:56 AM

Truly thanks for the kind words !!! Here is the deal , been pouring my heart and soul into this 32 for 6 years and the last straw was paying Shaun Torrente STR to build me a pair of strokers , after I finally got the engines all together after all the custom detail work they went to Fuller marine for start up .
George fuller is one of the best in the business and have dealt with him 30 years ago , George agreed to go over the engines from top to bottom and break in . Well after 10 min under 1500 rpm George felt something was amiss, peaked inside with a camera and called me and said " please tell me a 12 year old did the port work " Anyway Shaun Torrente said no warranty and simply put he ****ed me !! Go to SCREAMANDFLAY.COM UNDER GENERAL DISC TO ENGINE WORK AND SEE YOURSELF .
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151276100087...84.m1586.l2649

THE ENGINES NEED BORED , PISTONS AND PORT CLEAN-UP AND WILL MAKE 350 HP EACH , THEY ARE 3.2 LITRE STROKERS . I MAY SELL POWER SEP DEPENDING ON OFFERS , LOWERS ARE REBUILT , FAT SHAFT SPORTMASTERS

Flightplan 04-11-2014 09:18 AM

I dont know anything more about STR than what I have read here and S&M., and I am far from an engine builder.

Seems pretty clear to me that even if there was a failure during break-in it would have never caused the condition found with the port work, or cylinder prep.

Good on you KK for letting a pro do the break-in. Who the hell does that? If you would have clamped them on and hit the lake for a few hours and then they exploded I might understand STR having beef. But you did everything right.

If I made a living building performance motors, You can bet your ass I would do what I needed to do to make this one right.

KEVLARKAT32 04-11-2014 09:28 AM

Exactly me point !!! Thank you !! Been around this crap for 35 years and I knew I was on my own after a boat ride . Shaun torrente offered me pistons , my gripe is this after issues , what the hell did I pay you to do the first time ? I paid for 6 pistons and he used the others which fuller said also needed to replaced

Apparently its a very long list of people that Shaun Torrente ripped off , hell 5 of them called me to tell me their horrible engine / machine work
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151276100087...84.m1586.l2649

LAriverratt 04-11-2014 09:56 AM

wow!!! read it all so far and that sucks!!! (http://www.screamandfly.com/showthre...18-Engine-work)

KEVLARKAT32 04-11-2014 10:10 AM

I expected Shaun Torrente STR after viewing pics would be a stand up guy and correct issues , he said " NO WARRANTY " Simply put they were destine to fail from the onset with the engine rebuilding that was done !
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151276100087...84.m1586.l2649

LAriverratt 04-11-2014 10:35 AM

the pics say it all and I'm not engine expert....that's some crappy port work!!!

Double Rigged 04-11-2014 03:56 PM

Larry,
I may be interested in buying the engines. Think about what you want for them complete as is. Let me know. Were the cranks new? Also your clamp brackets look great and would be interested in them as well. Really do not need the lower units. Already have 3 sets. Looking to sell a set of sportmasters with 1.62's that came off the 300x's I bought.
I also spoke to my friend Jim and he may call you about purchasing the whole package.
Would be willing to clear and finish the paint work and have the trailer ready to roll to FL?
Thanks!

KEVLARKAT32 04-11-2014 04:06 PM

The cranks are NEW 3.2 300xs . The clamps are late model HD with teflon side guides not the older 2.5 2.4 stuff , yes there is a difference ! I may be will to work something out on the clear however I just want it gone . The trailer is bare steel as I was going to have it hot dip galv then i would paint again I'm done . FYI the rams have travel limter installed in order to avoid the possiibilty of over tilt and ruining cowls of boat . Each ram has been rebuilt using NEW merc rebuild kits . also all pivot / swivel bushings are new . I dont cut corners m new swivel pins
One engine has been bored with 6 new pistons , however with crappy port work and debris , no chamfering by SHAUN TORRENTE STR this ph will need new pistons
The other PH will need bored and new pistons .
both engines have 300 x intake

Larry, create an entry inside the classified section, you will get more calls and may sell quicker

still wish that you would finish it, but...

KEVLARKAT32 04-12-2014 06:27 AM

I will soon , have a few calls from ebay . Why don't you buy package , part out engines and put new power and call it a day .
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151276100087...84.m1586.l2649

noli 04-12-2014 07:04 AM

.

Larry I really luv your boat. There's just too many things going on right now.

and for the record, I would keep the STR power if I purchased the package, just need to do some minor work

awesome deal right there!

Lemme list what this boat has:

* invisible bolts on gauge dash panel
* invisible hinges on engine hatches
* micro cabling on pop up indicators
* built-in cooler on engine hatch
* flattened cockpit flooring
* no need to do the tanks due to materials used
* all carbon hull
* enclosed rear transom
* custom controls box
* Skater trailer converted to torsion bars
* trailer has fresh water wash down

many more details on the ebay ad

.

KEVLARKAT32 04-12-2014 07:37 AM

Thanks !!!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151276100087...84.m1586.l2649

SS930 04-12-2014 09:27 AM

Larry,

I agree with the others, you really should just take another break and then come back and work on it again later. It's a shame to see you've gone so far and are now so close. At a minimum, I suspect you will have a much harder time selling it without at least doing the clear and trailer, so I would suggest you at least take care of those things.

If I didn't already have so many projects going, I'd be taking a trip down to Jersey to see you...

KEVLARKAT32 04-12-2014 03:53 PM

Thanks ! To be honest I'm done and this nightmare reminds me why I stop running outboards years ago . Built one 550 hp BB for my last race/ pleasure in 2002 , guess what it still runs perfect and its had the **** beat out of it hard !
As far as clearing the boat , no . This way if someone does not like the graphics just wipe off with thinner as they are done on scuffed up clearcoat .
