I agree with Ron it will be a dog but I bet you always make it back home.. You will likely have setup gear case and prop issues too. Not to mention we will pull your "Skater Brother" card

What s the problem? I am pretty sure you can get them in a 20 inch mid section.

Is the problem not enough gear or prop to get the boat moving?

they do come in 20" mids ...ratio 1.75... 505lbs dry

The problem is the lowers for one. On S&F several Evinrude and Yamaha guys have had mids built to adapt a sportys to their powerhead. One guy has a 24 Skater that he is putting ETECs on. I bet it would run 100 mph converted.

WIth out sportmasters or nose cones of some sort I bet won't get out of the 90's.
Motors would also need solid mounts also. How would you install rear tie bar? I do not think anyone even makes a rear tie bar kit for that application. At 505lbs why not go with the 300xs's.
Not saying it's not possible but would be a lot of unknowns.

Why are you thinking about the engine combination? Just curious.

IMHO - the lost time on the water and uphill battle trying to get other mfg's power to work on a 28 Skater could never justify the results... then try to sell it when the time comes.

The 28 with 300xs' is the go-to package for speed, ecomomy and reliability. I'm not saying it couldn't be a good package (not to mention cool factor if you liked the look of the E's) but someone like Double Rigged could probably rhyme off part numbers and dimensions that will put this combo (28+300xs) over the century mark before fine tuning and keep the CG where it should be...

No disrespect but like a DOG.

There's a reason we have all the idle zones in Florida ....... So the E tecs and Yamahahas can catch up.

New listing 28 Skater

Looks like a nice rehab. Are the thru hull fittings on the port bow for a ballast tank? Also if tanks were redone I would assume the bulkhead Behind the front seats had to be cut. It can be repaired as strong as before but would definitely make tank repair mare challenging.

I bet he gets close to asking price. It's amazing how values have increased on these in just a few years.

Good luck to the seller and future buyer.
