WOW 119, I'd be very interested to know if the difference is the boat or the ROS motors. It would be very interesting to see what it would do with regular 400's bolted up. The 36 and 38's have always been super efficient designs but wow...

I know this has been posted before, but guys aren't seeming to understand that the ROS makes no more HP, or have a higher rev limiter than a stock 400R. There is no speed difference between the two. If matt Rice's 368 had 400Rs, it would run the exact same speed as it does with the ROS motors. What you guys do all need to realize though, is that Matt may not be running the stock ROS ECU flash. Both Dustin Whipple and Eric Simon offer an ECU flash that raises the HP output of either motor (ROS or R) to 430-440HP, and also raises the rev limiter to 7,400 (I believe). The Eliminator 27 Daytona that ran 127mph had these ECU upgraded flashes, as it ran that speed @ 7,350rpm. I'm not saying that Matt is not running stock ECUs, but I'm just letting you guys know that additional HP/RPM is available already for the 400s. Either way, Matt's 368 has raised the bar for big cats with outboard power. Just another example of what Peter Hledin can do when the customer wants all-out performance over "bling".

I think people have to understand that Grant has helped Skater a ton with these 400R boats and it's very cool that Peter has been open minded to advice. It has obviously helped.

Matt's 368 is AMAZING!!! Stoked for him!!!!

No doubt about that. In a few pics you can see some changes with the back end of the boat including the size of the notch. Like Dale said the powerheads are the same however the way the exhaust comes out is not. It may produce a few extra ponies but who knows....... Either way nicest OB cat to date!

Grant stated that the motors were completely stock on the 368. With the notch on that rig he needed 15s or the motors would be in the sky.

I drove Matt's boat last weekend with him (and blake) and have to agree that the 368 is a badass ride.... It was 2-3 foot in the bay and snotty (windy) and the boat handled/ran great. It was extremely responsive in terms of trim and handling and we saw 112mph no problem without any clean water. I wasn't surprised to hear that he ran 119mph and knowing grant, they'll be finding a lot more.

It's great to see these 400 boats getting sorted-out. When Dave get's his over-hub 5 blades done, it will add another element to dialing in these setups. In the overall scheme of things, the outboard boats are still relatively slow, but they are definitely getting there pretty quickly from where they were when the 400s were first released. I think we'll see 130s and 140s out of twin outboard powered boats in the next year or two. That's when they'll finally be running speeds that are acceptable as an alternative to inboard power imo. The inboard boats have gotten fast to the point of ridiculous, but 120mph just isn't fast enough for a lot of guys still. This is a very exciting time to be an "outboard guy"! :flag:
