If it can take the weight of the 700lb Verado 400, you might as well go with the 7 marine, 627 hp, surfacing lower.😃😃😃😃

That's a massive clamp on that 627. The Verado clamp doesn't look Offshore race worthy though.

I wonder if thie 400 Verado HP to dollar ratio versus the Seven Marine will be their demise.
Looks like a no brainer for me. MERCURY all the way. If you are going to spend that kind of money get IO package. |
Hello Boys, Well its what some of us have waited for. I know that a different version of 400 horses may have been better for us. A lighter weight two cycle perhaps. This is the hand we have been dealt. We're gonna find out how they run when my rig shows up with two of them clamped on the back. Yay. Cant wait. Again its what my boat was built for the whole time. Should be interesting when they have to prop it. Totally uncharted waters. When I get more info I will post ASAP.

Well let's see. A new Verado 400 will be around $31k with a sportmaster based on what i found out today. Motor weighs 670lbs. A 557 Seven marine is 75k no sportmaster and weighs in at a around 1000 pounds.

Testing should start today on this 29 DCB with the new 400's
http://www.riverdavesplace.com/forum...ith-Merc-400-s! Just for comparison this 29 DCB with twin 300xs's ran in the low to mid 90's. |
I think the M29 you speak of (white with blue and silver graphics) was set up with 25" XS's and propped to stay under 100. When I spoke with Dave @ DCB about the boat, he was very confident it would run well over 100 with 20" 300 XS's.
Looking forward to the test results on these motors. |
Was Just asked to confirm what color motors I wanted. All being done while everybody is still down at the boat show face to face. I got black of course. White looked OK but the black seems much more menacing.
