You guys are all killing me with this 30/308/318/338 name game! They all measure the same exact 30' 8" from tip of the sponson to back of the transom out of the mold. When Pete was tooling the plug back in 2004, he told Rik he was coming out with a new model - the Skater 30. I got hull #1, and it is listed by Douglas Marine as a Skater 30, even though it measures 33' loa with the tunnel/deck/hullside extensions (as do a few other inboard 30 Skaters with extensions). Right around the time the 30 came out, Pete came out with the 368 Skater (which references a 36' Skater widened 8") and a few years later the 388 Skater (which is a 36' Skater lengthened 2' and widened 8" - hence the 388). All of a sudden guys started calling their 30 Skaters 308s (these were not 30' Skaters widened 8"). Then guys built 10" widened 30s with tunnel/deck/hullside extensions and called them 338s. Now Steve's is a 10" widened 30 with no tunnel/deck/hullside extensions and it's called a 318. Can somebody please explain the logic of all these different numbers, because I'm lost. :confused:

Hey All, Not sure who is aware of this but they are supposed to have performance numbers on a DCB M29 with Merc 400Rs tomorrow. Its on River Daves Place under RD Lounge. Basically listed as above.

I had heard they already ran the boat once but no numbers disclosed yet. Based on my intel down here I am guessing 10mph faster than the 300xs package. Also had heard that the new 350hp verado not quite as stout as the old high octane rated version. Only makes sense if they now run lower octane there was a small loss of hp too. Multiple boat builders reporting it.

Today was the 1st day in the water. I'm good friends with Tony @ DCB, he should have some numbers for me shortly. Will see if he will let me post

What is the fuel burn on these 400 hp engines? Everyone says the verados like the gas station and 7000 rpm will probably like the gas station too whereas the xs motors are known to be efficient.
