What are your impressions as far as handling and performance before and after the transformation??:cool-smiley-027:

Impressions are mission accomplished. We ran hard at GLOC and LOTO and handling was much improved. The boat runs level launches and lands much better. Visibility is great from any seat. Only thing I may do is change power to 400R's now.

BTW I'm one of those everything is always for sale guys and looking for the next project.

Hey Helt or Sam, Whats the top end on that 338 and what size motors does it have. How much of a difference does the widened body add on the top end from stock beam. I would imagine it adds more the faster the boat can go. Steve.

I can't tell you how much the widened tunnel adds, but with my current setup and the 1000's it runs 150 and is capable of much faster!

And it gets there very quickly!

Hey Steve, there's no hard evidence that the widened Skaters are any faster than the standard width Skaters. The Bacardi 36 ran 202 way back in 2005 with less than 1,500hp a side - a 368 has never ran over 200 to my knowledge. My 30 has run right at 160 w/ 800s, Louie's 338 has run high 170s w/ 1,200s and the same drives. If you run the #s through the boat speed calculator on Bam's website, he should be going 196mph using the same constant as my setup. Back when I was building mine and talking to Pete about widened vs standard, he said he felt the only advantage may be in quartering rough water. But he said the biggest reason everyone liked them is because of the bigger cockpit! And I'm not saying the widened Skaters aren't badass, because they are! I'm just saying that the speed increases we're seeing aren't due to widened tunnels, but the big leaps in horsepower we have nowadays.

Hey Sam, Have you gotten any more numbers on your boat now that the weather is cooling down abit. Would love to see what your rig would do with the 400R motors. Would have to fly. My boat was 5500 lbs dry. Yours has gotta be below 5000 pretty far i would think. I think they'll get 112 or 13 from Mercury when all is said and done. Gotta put you over 115 somewhere easy.
