BTW I'm one of those everything is always for sale guys and looking for the next project.
Before you repower to 400s, contact Joe at DBR and see what they could do for you with your XS powerheads. They might have something available to you soon that would get you the speed you're after without completely re-rigging your boat. You just got it all back together Sam! Those are great pics of you running btw.

Parents week at Vanderbilt this weekend. Last weekend Lake Cumberland with full load of fuel and passengers. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can hit the river. I can't wait myself.

Your boat turned out great. I would love to go up one day when the Mercury gang is dial on it in. The acceleration has to be phenomenal.

I spoke with Joe earlier this summer. Still waiting on Dave to dial things in. Supposedly he is distracted on another project right now. I really love these XS's and the fuel economy. I ran the entire Lake Cumberland poker run all 9 stops on 80 gallons on fuel. I also ran hard the entire run.

If they had a little bit more mid range punch and 5mph on topend they would be perfect. Still torn between staying with these modifying them, finding some 300X's or jumping up to 400Rs. Bottom line is it's still a heck of a lot of fun and very low maintence and fuel consumption as is.

There a couple of fast 30's out there with x motors as well. If DBR gets those mods done I am sure the 300x will have something for the verado as well. I personally love the old school sound of a two stroke!

Dale, What does DBR have up their sleeve for the XS's?

The new Water ramps are the bomb. Water pressure issues are no more. 102 best and 98.7 consistently 80* mild humidity glass smooth water 420' above sea level Mercury 4B 32" cleavers with minor issues.

Totally Stock motors.

I have not measured the engine height but I was able to lift in higher settings without loosing water pressure.

Interesting number according to Smartcrart I have logged 577 miles with 284 gallons of fuel. For an overall season average of 2.0 MPG total burn rate.

Hey Sam, What were you running mph wise before the ramps were in. I assumed you raised the motors abit after the ramps were cut in. Steve.

I
102 best before build and 98.5 consistent speed. 97.5 after build with previous ramps flat deck and windshield. With the new ramps I was able to lift motors on the fly. Also I can use my cleaves again without loosing water pressure.

Hitting 98.5 consistently and bumped to 102 today.

More dialing in to do.

Congrats Sam, Thats great. They are cutting ramps into mine next time we go over to Merc. They put a go pro down by the bullet on the drive so they could see where the water flow was going. Cant wait to see what the outcome is. Hopefully it is a positive one.

That is very smart. I have the new Garnin VIRB XE which I got from Ron. You can control it and 9 others from your phone and see what it is recording live. I was going to set it up to record my gauges and record set up parameters and performance. Of course I left it at home this weekend. We only deepened my ramps an additional 1/8" from what Pete had done but it made ALL the difference in the world on my water pressure issues. Ron walked me thru the rest of the programming for my VV7's so now I have speed input from my Garmin 7610 to the VV7's. Now I just need to find the prop slip and Max performance Windows.

I would love to fly up the next time you test your 318. I'm still seriously considering upgrading power to 400Rs depending on your results. Thanks for sharing your build and data!
