I just got the true top speed of that DCB 29 that had the 400Rs on it - 104mph. The guy that had it built sold it already because he was unhappy with the performance of it, and the guy that bought it (for cheap) said it runs 104 best. That's 10mph slower than Steve's 318 w/ 400Rs (114mph), which is 10mph slower than the DW32 w/ 400Rs (124mph) - which really isn't a fair comparison, seeing as the DW is a full canopy 4 place boat. I just wanted to post this up, because I don't think it ever really was publicized what the best speed was that they got out of that DCB 29.

I spoke to the new owner of the DCB who lives in GA also. He told me it was around 5700lbs. Pretty close to the Skater. Also in case some of you are not on Scream and Fly the guy on their (Scawd the Dog) who rigged the single 400hp verado set up that replaced the 300x setup he had, has removed the engine and gave up on it for lack of performance on his application.
It was quite a lot slower.

Without a doubt anyone that knows me knows I'm a huge Skater fan, no question it would be my 1st and only choice if I had 300k for a boat. With that being said- comparing the two boats is tough. I mean not only is the Skater faster, it's SUPPOSE to be, not to mention how it would eat up just about any cat in the slop. Heck I'm sure this 318 will eat an M35s lunch in some rough stuff!...
But on the other side- the DCB boys build a 2nd to none of fit and finish, and are extremely nice. I'd say more on the comfort and luxury.
This comparison is more like the difference between a ZO6 and a M6, we know which one is which. The real comparison would be between a 32 DW pleasure, and a new MTI 34 with OBs. If anyone ever builds one of them.

MTI is building them. There will be a race version first from what I am told that will be tested with the x cat series. The pleaure version will be soon to follow. According to Tim they have deposits on 3 boats already.
I too am looking forward to seeing the finished product of Darens (Ktrons) boat. I see no reason why it wont run 120+.
Where the boat is run will also be a factor to the speeds posted.

Hey Bob, My rig, the Skater 318, weighed 5700 lbs with 50 gallons of gas in it. so that puts it at roughly 5400lbs dry. I spoke to the original owner of the DCB quite a bit and I believe that boat weighed roughly the same with a similar amount of fuel on board. Im no expert on the DCB tho. If someone knows different please shout out.
