I made some phone calls today to Dave @ Custom Touch Graphics and to Leon @ Derebery Proformance. both were very helpful and great to talk to! The cool stuff I learned today: Junkman was originally a 525SC - bravo boat and then Henry (unknown last name) bought it and brought it to Derebery performance where it got 572 CI and 1471 BDS blowers making 1250HP. Dave from Custom Touch Graphics did the paint on the boat he said if he could remember correctly that was around 2000-2001. The goal was to hold the record for fastest bravo boat at LOTO. It didn't even make it half the run before a bravo blew. It then got the merc No.6 drives and was a poker / pleasure run boat that mostly ran in Desert Storm, LOTO, and many other poker runs. I was told the boat ran 165MPH with the No. 6's. -1.24 Drive ratio -34 pitch 15 3/4 diameter props -Spinning in Said the boat handles like **** and porpoises with the props spinning out The not so cool stuff I learned today: The boat was sitting in the bottom of the lake tied up to a dock with the front of the sponsons still above water Im not sure if either Dave or Leon are on OSO, but if you ever read this I appreciate all of your time and information! |

The little bulge pump mishap. Go on! I’m curious now The more info the better! I’m digging pretty deep into the boat at the moment but If theres things I should be doing because of events that OSO members know of please inform me! |

Cool project! If you ever want to chat about arneson conversions, happy to help! Would be cool to have another ASD boat in the area!

Dsm - Thank you for the pic. I made the call and that doesn’t seem like a bad deal at all May try and scoop up the trannies out of that boat
Tibbe - After a long telephone conversation with Rik who was very helpful yesterday I pulled the trigger on a pair of used ASD7’s. Just waiting for Pro1 to get them off of his hull! I remember talking to you in Grand Haven last year Jeff and Rik has quite the success story about your AT! |
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...14e1084a5.jpeg In order to move the motors in-board the mounts needed clearancing on the tunnel and moved down further aswell for a lower COG https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b67d4f567.jpeg Front mount https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...9374e82c3.jpeg Rear mount https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b21d32aec.jpeg |

Without the Arnesons mounted, how do you know that the mounts you are making are going to give you the drive shaft angles you want. At this point, you don't know your flange angle for the drive input do you? A lot of cats have wild compound angle shafts due to trying to get exhaust and accessories to fit. Moving them around could limit your water pump and exhaust options in the future. I know when the boat went from Bravo's to Sixes, the engines were lowered and various things were modified.
Take a look at the driveshaft angles in this raceboat: https://www.offshoreonly.com/classif...at-o74222.html I found some old pictures of the rigging. Get me an address and I can email them to you. |
Tx I modified the mounts before I planned on getting rid of the bravos. From talking to Rik I think the ASD 7’s should be able to mount in relatively the same area as the bravos were. Time will tell. If I have to modify them again I will. It’s just metal! Drivehsafts and U-Joints can run at some interesting angles. If I can keep them as straight as possible and keep a low COG I would be a happy camper. Once the Arnesons arrive I will know. Right now I am sanding the bilge down to glass some areas and prep for paint. Pics to follow. my email is [email protected] I’m still curious about the bilge pump mishap! |

Got the drives off this weekend. Still waiting on the arrival of the Arnesons to start mocking things up. Have to get the trannies down off the shelf and see if they have been upgraded yet or not. I think that the old holes in the transom will need filled as I am assuming the Arnesons will need mounted closer to the bottom of the boat. I continued sanding the bilge down this past weekend and got some good advice from Jim Buddy for filling holes and what not! |

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...bd3baf1e5.jpeghttps://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6ed07a5a2.jpeg Save the best for last!! Got shipped down the Florida for work for a couple weeks and ended up getting lucky and having the day off! Saw some very nice craftsmanship and quality down there and got some new ideas for the boat (Not sure is that’s a good thing or bad :drool1: ) I talked to a few fellows by the 340 MTI cat with merc 300’s and told them I’d like to go for a ride to see how it compare to a Skater. One guy told me yeah I can hook ya up with a ride... went over to get the guy who was going to run the boat and he said that it was TOO ROUGH to do a demo. 2’ chop is too much water I guess? After being told it was snotty out there I told him that’s the reason I wanted to go and see how it did as I boat on Lake Michigan usually in bigger water. Maybe some other time I guess! |
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b1d582767.jpeg Does anyone know where skater gets their scoops? Who produces them / if they still aren’t production? Not sure if it’s a skater specific scoop or a bought and brought in house type deal. I can always ask Pete but try not to bug him too much! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...aa195304a.jpeg The official renderings with a window and mullet I have decided boats 2000 and newer have bustles and everything older has a mullet 😏 Downloaded an app that lets you crop parts of pics and add it to another so I toyed around for a bit tonight LOL Arnesons should be getting shipped up to MI hopefully later this week or sometime next week! |
wheres the update here??

https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...rebuild-2.html Moved the progress to the “restorations and upgrades” Seems like more people spend time in that area and I really enjoy the feedback and different ideas that members will toss around or recommend |
