Kinda simple design but clean if ur into it

You know u had the boat to long
when u find yourself posting the same rehabs 17 years later in the same forum! here is the 1996 vintage i refit years back Somewhere in this mess! https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6f82dd3b5.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1b39fd624.jpeg |
Some ideas
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...17e9a9f1e.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...964f7fbf1.jpeg sad thing is i cant see what im doing now without every light in the shop and multiple cheater glasses double stacked on my nose |
Here is more ideas
I decided to narrow the center seats so i could build some steps like skater did to get to rear deck without stepping on the newly upholstered seats. hopefully there wide enough once u filtering the booze factor. dont want to hijack this guys thread but thought this was relative. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...007531509.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ed1763f8f.jpeg The alcantara exo is great to work with Thanks josh at relicate for supplying Its pricey but worth it. Will see how it holds up when someone spills A pina colada on it https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...41c6d4802.jpeg |
looks awesome keep posting!

here is a picture of Kong!
thanks Yves Belanger for commissioning another sweet ride! Similar to other late models...I like how its well thought out for placement. right down to oh chit handles for both passengers hands. Take note on the drivers side one doubles up as a rest when trying to adjust trim tab settings. Really cool pistol grips for the back seat drivers! yes i know its hard to believe but even these monster cats get pounded to heck in rough ocean water! https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...462465c054.jpg |
Here is a quick video of "Kong" 50 Skater, where you can get a better feel for the interior. Enjoy!

Ok so maritime design is done with the
rear sofa. Its nicer then the one in my living room. Great work Jay!! . Im adding the steps and red led step lights i show picure when im done hacking that up. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...179fdcf02.jpeg |
So basically you take apart a perfect working
flat dashboard and chop it up in a vision only you have in your head. this ones has a 3/16 aluminum plate over 5 layer laminate. here is the port side with the elimination of some gauges. i had jay at maritime cut me a over size piece Of alcantara backed by a 1/4 inch foam. this will give it some depth when u bolt gauges in. Wasnt boat dashes like this in the 70.80s? use some 3m 90 spray adhesive. Then use a Xacto blade to carefull cut out from the back side. without cutting your leg open! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0de2bf890.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ca6466a35.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b014828e8.jpeg |

Blast from the past
i think its time to get rid of that couch in the office |
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f9ac79d3c.jpeg
This is sick! So painting the back of the seats is the new thing https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...3d2d324b3.jpeg |
See how the seats are made
the backs are held on by pine tree fasteners u know the nissan maxima bumper holders so popping them off and peeling off the original vinly reveals a rough surface the inner backing is smooth and one could easily wax the inside of the back and pull a smooth mold off it making a nice back panel to paint not sure i have the ambition. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...59d8e88aa.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b9adb0a6a.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b02aaafb6.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...3d2b51778.jpeg |
The side panels did not require any sewing.
tearing them down reveals a center panel with upper and lower panels. the upper and lower are stapled then folded back to the finish side creating a nice padded tranistion line. all foam was in decent shape and was reused i was able to take this on myself after some instruction from my interior guy! https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ae175f9f2.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e015a46c2.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0b57405ea.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...aef5bba7f.jpeg |
About three hours later
j at maritime design cut the pieces for me i managed to do this without stapling my fingers together. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8108e190f.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8af4f4e5b.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ce066334d.jpeg |
If we go back to the switch placement in 1996
They are off to the right pretty far for my skinny t-rex arms to reach. i decided to do a wrap style dash and although my original military style toggle switches worked very well i started looking for replacement marine switches all over the internet. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f090c2ca3.jpeg |
Most of u all know when u search something on the internet it uses cookies. Not the kind u
crave after taking a bong hit. anyhow this company called newwiremarine came up in my wifes facebook account as i was stalking her. so i decided to click on that link. low and behold its a fully interactive custom dash board marine company where u actually Select and build and wire the custom panels wow… here i was gonna cut solder shrink tube new switches like i did years ago… r u kidding me? what a great idea and service.. so a month later fedx shows up with custom cobalt carbon fiber switch panels…. great job .. now lets see if i can get them wired in without a mushroom cloud! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8a05a2464.jpeg They all back light red if i wire it right including The skater logo https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0d3c12ce0.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e2c5a3e02.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...25ec9dc4b.jpeg Im so excited im heading to the strip joint! |
WOW, they do some super nice work, all numbered wiring I assume with a chart. So, the Skater logo is backlit? thanks
|
New wire is very popular with the center consoles and fishing boat community. From what I’ve seen and heard they are a great company to work with. Boat is looking good G, keep up the good work, don’t let the smoke out of those switches!
I’ll be starting my wiring project soon. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...dc1bd95c3.jpeg |

hmmm let me look in the box. |

Not that i know what im really talking about but this alcantara stretches and is easily pulled and
stapled. |
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fdb4c48ee.jpeg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fc26d899e.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...edc5e78e1.jpeg 1/4 foam to hide my mistakes And make it squishy https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...5632b05e8.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e05a9f49b.jpeg Now i cut out trapezoid shape for custom Skater panel I threw bolt in some areas to keep it Secure in the rough waters |
So that vision that only i can see is
kinda appearing before me. on with the countdown https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ac2b8bb67.jpeg |
Here is the original handles and shifter items i sprayed lexus blue in 2007.
The newer colors i like is the Mazda soul red which is a tricoat. one of the secret to spraying this is to mix the second color with the clear coat. so out comes the old Sata jet B which is so obsolete (sprays more in the air then on the product). This color with maybe a charcoal or platinum silver is got my attention for a possible overall repaint on the old Girl. |
|
the garmin 8612xsv has got some weight to it.
the 3/16 inch abs carbon panels new wire marine supports it s0o i chose to thru bolt in several areas to hopefully keep it secure. |
|
Was thinking red center console i chopped it half couldnt stand that hump in the
whats limited rear seat space. but think blk alcantara https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4ff67bed1.jpeg |
