Default Transom notched

Why are some 32B skaters notched at the transom?

Outboard boats are usually notched and I/O boats are not.

The notch is kind of a built in set back for the outboard boats. I think the I/O boats are heavier in the back and there is no notch for better balance of the boat and help support the weight.
